There's two factors here. 1. Can you in 2.5 days take 20 wickets against Australia who will be happy with 3.5 to 4 runs an over? I doubt it big time. 2. Can you score 400 runs v Australia playing positively? The bowling is not restricted so it's a wee bit harder to bat at test level So all in all I can see England struggling to bowl at them and them declaring on 600 and the batting won't stand up. 2005 was all about top top bowling and batting on both sides. That's not going to happen this time I reckon
I can't see the test tesm changing much for the ashes but I think afterwards, could have a few. Someone like Bell could be moved on and id love to see Morgan get another go at test level. Cook Lyth? Root Ballance (root and balance swap depending on situation) Morgan Butler Stokes Rashid Wood Broad Anderson Wouldn't mind seeing something like that, still unsure on Lyth but he needs a decent chance. Wouldnt do it as England don't like 4 specialist bowlers as they prefer to load up on batsmen though.
England won't drop bell game one. They should going on recent form but they won't. And the bowling is not right so they need a bit of bowling depth. They won't either. Rashid is not near test team squad for first test is he? Thought I saw 14 names and he was not in.
That was my team after the ashes. For or the ashes, bell will be there and Morgan won't, Rashid won't be there and Ali will.
Most likely. Moeen Ali played awful v new Zealand. Woeful. Bell didn't get runs and was woeful in field too. As neither played in odi I would question if they have any confidence built up. Day 1 of ashes... would you bowl or bat?
Should be batting every time unless the pitch is stupidly green. Worse thing is putting them in and watching them go score 500 then you're under pressure from the off
Then we would want cook and lyth to get at least 100 as per any innings of course but we will see where nerves will come in
Great one day series as they go. It was just ****ing embarrassing to hear Boycott creaming his white rose kecks over Bairstow and Rashid, ****ing ****er.
So after watching the NZ seamers go round the park when bowling fast... and then pull it back by bowling lots of slower balls and cutters... our bowlers decide to go ahead and bowl nice and quick at McCullum who smashes it round the park No very clever some of these people
Won by 56 runs.. bowled them out in 17th over. NZ collapsed, 5 wickets for 4 runs! Started off shaky with the bowling but pulled it back once McCullum went and the PP ended. Very good series all round for England, drew the test, won the ODI series and one the 1 T20. Only one series but this ODI team look very exciting, should give the Aussies a good run for their money in the ODI's and can only help with confidence going into the Tests. Questions again, where was this England in the WC
But at least we played some decent cricket and cook is back in form while the bowlers looked more dangerous. Just need a decent spinner... Hope Rashid is given a proper go
hmmmm.. yes cook was better. ballance and root look solid.. bell was poor, and i was less than impressed with anderson and broad. both need to be a lot more economical and take wickets. anderson in particular needs to do this. Wood looked to have done well. we will have to see waht we will do with the rest.
You getting him confused with someone else? Balance had a shocker of a series but he's a decent player. Needs to get forward a bit more, got caught on backfoot just prodding at balls and not lifting his bat high enough. I think the rest Broad/Anderson would have got will do them good.
Australia warming up playing knew. Mitchell Johnson starting to bowl now after they scored 500 odd and declared. The pattern for the ashes is already in place
