My ideal signings would be Clyne -RB Kovacic - CM Firmino- CAM/ST Digne-LB Illara-DM I read an article on Illara that he had one of the highest recoveries in La Liga, highest pass percentage and ran the most in games he played. Those are attributes of a deep lying player. Plus you have to admit if he plays one twos with Illori David Pleat will sure have a mare pronouncing their names.
Id laugh if we signed Firmino and he turned out **** and Lallana has the season if his life scoring 15 and winning poty Reckon on jimmy would have an epic meltdown and wouldn't be able to cope with the stick
He is good defensively and his reading of the game is superb. But he's not a Mascherano, Busquets type of midfield - a proper shield for the defence. Having said that, I would still have him. Can't wait to see Ilori in the first team - think he's such a classy young defender and hope we give him a chance sooner rather than later.
I hope both come good. But it won't happen simply because Lallana isn't that good, and Firmino has world class potential. I'm confident Firmino will be a Torres/Suarez type player - give him 2-3 years to develop and he'll be frightening, and we'll sell to Barca.
The question then becomes what is the target for next season if we were to land these players? I also think it is brilliant to bring them in now at before next season because the rest of Europe will milk the PL for transfer fees with the new TV deal in place.
We can't challenge on 4 fronts, so I really don't care bout the domestic cups - they're not what we need to win to help us strengthen. We need to focus on winning the EL tbh, as the top 4 is going to be hellishly competitive this season. I think Arsenal tying up a deal for Cech will see them improving, especially if they also land Aubamayang. And as for United? ****, well they have 150-200 mill to burn and are looking at the experience of Ramos, Benzema, Schweinsteiger etc
Look how much being out of the CL is ****ing us up - Players leaving, players not wanting to join, hugely diminishing revenue.... "ooo I really want to join Liverpool, they won the FA cup a few years back!" - the FA cup was magical, it's lost its way.I care about winning the league and being Champions of Europe, titles that count. And to be the best, you need to sign the best - and you do that by being in Europe's biggest competition. Winning FA cups etc then come naturally as an afterthought once the team is strong.
Yeah as a club we have to think big and build a squad capable of challenging for the league, cups will hopefully follow but if I have to choose one or the other then Cup before 4th.
A cup final will always be more exciting than finishing 4th. I don't want to be an arsenal for 10 years and just survive always finishing the season with nothing to show for it other than 6 more games against other European teams the next year. Winning things will bring in players, keep your name out there and more importantly bring joy to the fans. Couldy da care less about revenues, I'm not a shareholder, I support LFC for te football and the enjoyment of winning a cup will only be beaten by winning the league
You mean the Emirates Cup? How about we just win the EL - that way we win a cup and qualify for the CL? And then after that, we just win the league and the champions league?
Can we do the league and CL in diff years so we can celebrate twice rather than just 1 big celebration?
So if FFP is removed because found illegal does that mean city can claim back their 25m fine they had to pay?
