Remember that interview where Rickie referred to him as Mr Southampton. The embarrassment on his face was one of the first warning signs....even a few months earlier he would have grinned.
I have that on a HDD somewhere. :)

It has always been a plan to archive some of the forgotten stuff on Youtube for the gaze of Saints fans. Youtube have done their best in the past to deny me that possibility. But I'll manage it all one day.

Not saying Toby is like this. But a lot of players say what you want to hear. You only have to look at Lallana at last years awards evening...

True, but his words are not coming from stage managed club interviews.
Anything coming from Belgium or Spanish interviews is pretty consistent. Southampton is his first choice.

It's no guarantee, but I think it puts us ahead of any non champions league clubs who may want him.

I'm still very confident - the most important thing is he wants us. We want him, so there'll be an agreement that is desirable.

Two things to remember in regard of the price:

1 - Atlético paid Saints a fee of £1.5m to cancel the original right-to-buy agreement
2 - Another clause states that anyone wanting to buy Toby must offer £3m more than Saints

So in reality, the outlay is £16.5m - which would still make him our record signing - but I can't see anyone offering £21m for him, eclipsing us by £3m.

If £18m is true then I think we could of got him for cheaper, but that would have meant dragging the transfer very late into the window. Which would be no good for anybody.

Chips are on the table, everyone fold and let's get this done. <party>

Skechers are anti-gravity shoes...you float across the ground. My friend who has an inherited muscle problem which stops her walking too far managed to walk across Gatwick and she nearly cried with happiness as her foot pain was so much improved.

£18m is a bit much for me. £10-12m yes, £15m maybe, £18m there's gotta be better options.

There isn't any guarantee that 18Mill will get you ant better. And alderweireld we know will slot straite back in! For me it's a no brainer! We also have alot of money coming in so we can afford it.

No...there really isn't. You could pay less and get a terrific player or you could get a player that doesn't fit at all. Toby is the real deal...and we'd probably get good money for him if we sold him after a few years anyway.
