I quite agree - McCarthy needs to get regular games under his belt to get sharp - although at Leicester he was possibly at fault for a few of those goals, that match was likely an aberration playing behind such a disjointed & disinterested defence.

Now if Green stands firm and wants to play out his contract here at £50K per week, that could be another matter regarding the decision of which of them to keep and play as #1 - neither would be happy as a bench warmer here. I really think it's time for Rob to move on and a lucrative Chelsea contract could be good financially for him and get him off our wage bill.

I believe that we could well lose Charlie, Fer, Phillips & Caulker, which could be a piece of good business if we get most of our money back on him. I was never convinced by his play, he seemed to switch off quite often and not read the game well - so much for a season of learning his trade by example from Rio.

I have seen McCarthy a couple of times...and he was seriously not impressive...but he was playing behind a dysfunctional defence...

I really think we should encourage one to go.....and my brain says it should be that Green goes and leaves McCarthy stays....I just hope he hasn't been smitten by the QPR bug...nd never plays to his potential again

I saw Charlie and Messi a couple of times and guess what, i was not impressed. You cannot judge a player after 4 games otherwise 90% of world greats would never have been.
Agree with the rest of your post though.

McCarthy should stay and Green to go

Hypothetically, if we were to get promoted Green wouldn't be our number 1 again would he?

We've got the makings of a good young team and McCarthy has youth and relative experience on his side for a 25 year old. I really believe if he's Number 1 you'll see the kind of form that got him in the England squad a couple of seasons ago.

    Yes!
We need to build a team/squad now that will be the same(ish) in three years time. In 2018 Green will be retired (or way past his best) and MaCarthy could/should be our No. 1.

McCarthy is a good keeper, played very well against us for Reading in the PL game at LR and then the game at their place when we drew 1-1, kept them in the game 1st half......

Still youngish and will improve....darn sight cheaper than Green in terms of wages so really is a no brainer as we are trying to balance the books.
