Or he's away on England duty and they will thrash it out when he's back or after his holiday. There is still over two months to go til the window closes. Don't think for one minute we haven't a second RB lined up and in the wings, should the club get a silly offer for Clyne. Once again this smacks of the club playing things absolutely perfectly. It sounds as if Clyne would be happy to stay and happy to go. The only thing needed for him to go is the right offer to the club. We will either keep an excellent player, or get an inflated price. Win:win.

I like Guzan but would prefer a keeper in a similar mould to Forster (i.e. imposing rather than a smaller keeper) - I just think it makes the transition easier. Would like Heaton but dependant on the Arsenal Cech situation, I would be very happy with Szczesny, even on loan. It's not a difficult position to get an adequate keeper in but difficult to get someone of european standard who will be happy to do battle with FF in the longer term and doesn't cost the earth. It could easily take FF all o fnext season to recover fully from such an injury.

With Falcao heading to Chelsea on loan I imagine Bamford would be either leaving / going back on loan - would anyone take him on loan to help with Europa?

Nope. Buy him or don't bother.

Reason? I'm not sure they will be selling him and if they do I imagine they'll want £10m+ for him n not sure he's done anything to justify that sort of tag yet.

For what it's worth I'd be happy to take him on loan.

    I
Not fussed with a loan to be honest. Between Mane, JRod, Pelle, Juanmi, Long, Tadic, Seager and Gallagher I think we have good options for all competitions and I fully expect us to supliment this with a further signing. Would prefer to take a chance on someone permanantly than take Bamford, who Chelsea would expect to get game time.

That is one thing I thought I imagine they would want him to be guaranteed starter where he goes so that would rule us out, and even with those options I still think we need one more.

Not keen on loans tbh, the Toby situation now is why I don't want him on loan.

Agreed, one more. I expect it to be either someone young, resonably expensive but with big potential (Luc Castaignos?) or someone we can get reasonably inexpensively who has a chance of making a difference and improves the squad depth and options (Guidetti?). I'd personally love to see more of a like to like for Pelle to give us that real threat (Austin, Dost etc)

That loan deal was structured in that way for a number of specific reasons and it's clearly an outlier for its complications. He wasn't sure about us, Athletico thought he might fetch more and we weren't willing to put a big fee up front.

Straight loan + option deals like Bertrand, Elia, et al are more the norm and are a good way to reduce the risk of large fees/wages not working out.

Fair enough, that doesn't bother me too much as after watching him for just a few games I realised how difficult it would be to sign him permanently, I think loans can be handy sometimes though.

Loans of a player of the calibre of Toby will mainly be good business, as we'd not usually have a chance of signing them any other way; and I bet his presence gave us a big points bump too, as he helped shore up our defence massively (our backline all did so, as a unit - including our other loan at LB). And now he is probably way more likely to consider us as a destination, and recommend us to national teammates.

Loaning someone like Bamford, however, is as said more complicated in terms of potential outcome, as he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter, and is very much untested in the Prem. Though most top-performing strikers who come up from the Championship these days prove themselves decent Prem strikers. With the exception of Danny Graham and Ebanks-Blake, of course.

Guidetti would be a gamble but he is out of contract. He showed some promise at Celtic, but so did Henri Camara at one stage.

Will never forget his goal against Norwich in relegation year! Still one of the best atmospheres (bar pompey games) I've been involved in at St Marys.
