If we were serious about that signing it's unlikely he'd be signing for Brighton.

My flatmate told me about the Sam Clucas rumor last night.... I couldn't remember his name so didn't post it in here today. My flat mate is a big Lincoln fan and Clucas played for them. Apparently hes decent but it all sounded very odd to me!

His agent has said that they will take their time before signing for seagulls, in other words hoping for a better offer.

Clucas seems a very odd one, perhaps we're hoping for another non-league to Premier League story? They seem to be all the rage these days.

No idea about him, but to take a squad spot in our congested squad, he'll have to be more than just a utility backup you'd think?

Spurs are on the verge of signing Trippier from Burnley (fantastic signing for £3.5m, unbelievable value that) so this would make sense.
I'd certainly be happy if the deal went through

I thought Yedlin was pretty highly rated, surprised to see Trippier is thought more highly of. Pacy fullback capable of playing further forwards, I could see Yedlin forming a hellish combination for opposing full backs.

Depending on what he's like defensively, could be an excellent addition. Hopefully Whitts can keep up his improved defensive displays too, should we opt for a more defensive back 4.

If true it's a good move an ticks one of my mental boxes of areas that need improving. Adding pace from full back allows us to play narrower and give Redmond more of a free role.

For the record my other "boxes" are

    - A left wing for when we play a more conventional midfield.

    - A top quality centre back. Frankly I find the discussions about how good Russ is there irrelevant we should definitely be looking for better in the PL.

    - Left back cover, could be the same as the left winger, also start giving Toffolo chances.

    - DM competition for Tettey, looking like this could be Mulumbu.

    - Sort out the striker situation. Not sure how. I would like a pacey Calum Wilson like striker, sort of like Grabban but with more instinctual finishing. Probably move on at least Lafferty.

I also like the possibility of Yedlin for the same reasons, Bath, but it would also resolve the issue of Martin playing at CB and allow Whittaker to cover at LB if needed. Yedlin has 16 senior caps for the USA, which is good for a 21 year-old and he can also play as a WB or LW. In this case a loan makes sense.

Another left-sided CB to compete with Bassong would be good, letting Miquel get more experience on loan (assuming Turner leaves or is loaned out). I'd like to see Mulumbu competing with Tettey at DM (probably at the expense of O'Neil), but I'm less concerned about a LW because I think BJ will play on the left most of the time and Dorrans and Andreu can also play there. AM would still be my main priority though.

Generally I just think we need to improve our defence. Is like us to bring in a CBwho better than what we have. Then as bassong is our next best it's likely he would partner the new one. Nothing about Russ really just a question of continually improving.

That is the main thing. Any CB brought in should be an upgrade on what we currently have. The whole Russ debate tends to agree that he is adequate for our status. But our status will remain quo with no improvement.

Ironically, strengthing at DM with Mulumbu would also strengthen our defence, but I agree that any CB coming in should be quality and fighting for a starting place.
