It's a ludicrous amount of money for him. Liverpool have to accept the offer.

I think a deal has already been agreed and the lower and revised offer are part of the agreement ie City are helping Liverpool appease their fans by making it look like they held out for a better deal.

You lot should take that all day long for him, maybe try and get a sell on clause in there as well, if City pull out, then you're gonna be stuck with him as I don't see any other club stupid enough to pay that much for him.

Also please don't assume SF08 is representative of all of us <ok>

Why do we have to accept it?

He's arguably the best youngster in world football, has 2 years on his contract and we're selling him to a rival ..

LFC have complete control over the situation.

You're gonna have to explain some of that, best youngster in world football really? And I'm not sure you will be rivalling City for a league place next year either...

Winning the European Golden Boy award would help my argument. You won't find many teenagers, 20 year olds who are as good.

I agree and don't rate him that highly, he has a big weakness in that his decision making at the crucial moment is terrible and he gets the pass or the shot wrong on most occasions, it's mental thing so he could improve and if you add that to his pace and dribbling it's a very good player. Lots of if's there which is why I'd be inclined to take the current offer. Great if we can get more though.

His decision making wasn't too bad when he was playing alongside Suarez last season.

He's not the finished article - he's only 20. Decision making etc comes with experience.

You don't have to accept. You'd be mad not to. He doesn't want to play for Liverpool so if he stays you'll have a half arsed player for next season whose value will be significantly less next summer. His current value is less than what you've been offered. I think the problem is that you think he's the best youngster in world football when, based on last season's performances, he's absolutely not.

Exactly, not saying he won't/can't be great in the future, but there's no guarantee of that whatsoever and seeing as he's made it clear he wants to go there's no point hanging on to him may as well cash in now, you lot need to learn from us how to sell players who are acting the **** for big money.
Exactly, so how much are you expecting to get for someone who's still 'potential'?

Based on last seasons performances? I'm guessing a lot of fans completely ignored the first half of the season where he was practically carrying our attack on his own. He did have a poor 2nd half of the season but again, he was expected to do everything himself.

He's 20 years old. Put him alongside more refined and experienced players like Sturridge and Suarez, and he didn't look out of place.

You need to learn from us that £35m (-25%) is not "big money" <ok>

He needs to add more to his game. In his breakthrough season his pace frightened defenders and he was working with Suarez. Early in his career SWP's pace frightened players. So did Tony Daley's. Defenders worked out how to nullify them.

When it's put on a plate for you the decisions are much easier to make, Suarez will make anyone look better. I agree with you in principal that he could improve but he clearly doesn't want to be here and I'm concerned that at some point the interest wil drop off and he stays. I don't want him at Liverpool.

Great if we can get even more for him and if you look at the overinflated prices paid for English lads then there's a chance we could get silly money.

How it is invested is then the worry.

£35million is Liverpool's transfer record so as a club it is big money to them.

Before I answer your question, please can you name other teenagers/ 20 year olds who are better than Sterling?

Fair enough. He doesn't want to play for you though so he won't put the effort in next season and you'll be lucky to get £20million for him next summer when he has a year left on his contract. Or his agent may tell him to wait out another year so he can go on a free and get a massive signing on fee.

I'm concerned that we may ened up with him staying if we hold out for too much but like I said in my other post look at the overinflated prices for English players and there's a good chance we could get a lot more. This is in no way a dig but look at the money you paid for Shaw and compare it that way.

I'm hoping that a foreign team comes in at around £40 million and we go for that I don't really want him at another PL team.

Do you have a sell on to QPR then? You should include a sell on for any deal you do, but he's made it clear he wants to leave, and with 2 years left on his deal, this is the highest his value will be, surely you're better off milking what you can now and getting rid?
