Liverpool have made a shock bid for England striker Charlie Austin in an attempt to prevent him from joining Newcastle.
The QPR man has reportedly stalled on talks with Steve McClaren because he wants to speak with Brendan Rodgers first (Sun on Sunday)

So we could have a strike force of Ings, Austin, Balotelli, Borini, Lambert and Dick Orgy next year. May be 30 goals between them if we are lucky.

He wouldn't get the same type of service at Liverpool as he did at QPR. Much like Carroll & Lambert. He's obviously got a nose for goal but Liverpool isn't the right move for him and he isn't the right type of player for us either. No one would really benefit from us signing Austin.

I think Rodgers has handed them his cock to retain his job, so I'd not be surprised if you were right there.

Not seen him play much. Will he be a replacement for Gerrard, but younger, or is he more of a defensive midfielder
I always thought he was more of a AMC, but its been suggested he can play as a CM. So I would guess he's more a Gerrard from a number of years ago.

Hope that's true. Could do with a real quality midfielder.... Just need a top striker now.
