Probably because they are morons.

Every other thread there's a Manc (or another rival fan) taking issue with stuff that's being said here and just in general being really whiny. If I wanted to hear childish arguments and piss poor opinions I'd listen to talksport. You're right, its starting to get really boring. Don't mind if a rival fan has an opinion and wants to share it, but when its just opinion based on no evidence being passed off as fact it gets a little tedious.

I agree, but if they pay £50m for their first signing then any other top targets will rise well beyond that, especially if nobody else puts up a fight for him.

The "next big thing in England" bit might mean something as a HG player but will carry little weight when rebuilding the team.

Just putting em all on ignore now mate. There's a bit of banter and debate and then theirs just dumbfucks who either know nothing about the game or pretend they don't just for kicks and to wum, no basis in rationality. And you're right about talksport... that garbage makes me want to crash the car into something <laugh>

Well stats suggest best young player in Europe (yeah yeah I know) but he is proven in this league despite being pants this year.

Hes being put up there alongside players like Pogba.

United just spend 30m on a similar player from Holland so the hg and prem proven thing should mean he at least matches that value.

Hes es probably worth about 25m but his age means he has big potential meaning you're also paying for partly his ability now and partly his ability in 3/4 years time.

I would expect you to get anywhere between £25m and £35m for him in the current circumstances, if he puts in another good year then £50m is not unrealistic, you would probably got that last summer too.

Ok so Sterling value factors...

Youth (therefore potential)
Home grown (we got those gooooood hydroponics at Melwood innit)
Accolades and awards
Usual b/s PL inflation (especially for young English players)

Do any of these justify the money that will be spent on buying him (I mean, I don't really care if we get 40mill plus but theoretically/ethically)... what has he done on the pitch in the last year that even makes him an interesting prospect for a title challenging and possibly CL challenging side. Absolutely feck all if you ask me. No finish, been feeble on the ball, terrible mindset, listens to knob heads, image obsessed (ok they all are), no respect for the club (when does that matter these days??) I can't see him amounting to much at any club now unless he's in a phase and suddenly sorts his attitude.

I agree with the attitude bit snd disrespect for the club. Think he's definitely got bags of potential but is in danger of wasting it. Could do with a few mote years with you to develope IMO.

CARLOS TEVEZ has agreed to rejoin Boca Juniors this summer, according to reports in Argentina.
Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen enjoyed a productive evening on international duty, helping Wales to a memorable victory over Belgium in their Euro 2016 qualifier in Cardiff.
Allen played the full 90 minutes for Chris Coleman’s side, as they moved to within touching distance of qualification for their first major tournament finals since 1958.
Gareth Bale’s first-half goal gave them the win, as Wales then withstood a sustained assault from the Belgians thereafter.

Big-money signing will make or break Champions League hopes while Reds can't afford to sell Sterling without lining up replacement first

  • Liverpool have been busy bringing in new players this summer, and the transfer window hasn’t even opened yet.
    But nobody is looking at our business so far and thinking we have a better chance of qualifying for the Champions League.
    James Milner is the only one who has set the pulses racing so far.
    The aim at the moment, though, appears to be fleshing out the squad in preparation for some departures – and hopefully more expensive, attractive arrivals.
    ADVERTISING
    I can see the sense in not spending lots of money on Danny Ings, even if it will probably set us back a couple of million.
    Ings is potential. We bought a lot of potential last summer, but we were spending tens of millions on it.
    At least if Ings doesn’t kick on, it won’t have been that much of a financial gamble.
    It does look as though Brendan Rodgers has been told there is a pot of money available, but it will only be supplemented by sales of other players.
    So the Reds boss is looking to maximise the free market and snap up out of contract players.
    That is clever, but only up to a point. The real judgement will be made when the transfer window closes and we know what other, if any, significant signings have been made.

    It’s a big step up for Ings, make no mistake.
    He is still young and is improving, but did score goals for a struggling team relegated from the Premier League.
    From what I have seen of him at England under-21 level, he has certainly got talent.
    But it’s a big ask for him to go and play regularly for Liverpool.
    To be fair, Ings will know he hasn’t been signed as a first choice. But if he gets in the team and starts scoring goals, then it will be impossible to drop him.
    Hopefully he will have right attitude and take it from there.
    If we can get Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini out of the door for decent money, and maybe move on a couple of other players, it could give us some leeway to bring in a couple of big-hitters.
    But I’m not sure.
    Now is a test for Fenway Sports Group. If they demand the club be in the Champions League, then they have to start bringing in Champions League-quality players.
    And while you can get the odd Milner for nothing, most of those players are going to cost money.

    So the Raheem Sterling saga rumbles on.
    If Manchester City are offering the region of £30million as a starting bid, it shows they are serious.
    Every player has his price.
    And as much as Liverpool have previously said Sterling is going nowhere, there’ll be an amount City or some other club will reach that will force the owners to go ‘you know what, that’s okay’.
    With QPR due a sell-on fee, we’re bound to hold out for the best value possible.

    City know he doesn’t want to play for Liverpool any more. And don’t tell me that City haven’t been talking to someone close to the player.
    Fans will grumble at the prospect of losing Sterling, but if you aren’t in the Champions League then there’s every chance your best players will look elsewhere.
    Liverpool also have to make sure they have a big-name signing lined up before they can contemplate letting Sterling go.
    You saw with the Mario Balotelli situation last season of how not to do it.
    With no matches to attend, supporters are desperate for news, preferably good news.
    But there’ll also be a game of patience being played.
    The transfer window is open until the end of August and the reality is it probably won’t be until late July before we start seeing some of the bigger transfers taking place.
    Hoping Adam isn't bog standard
    The signing of Adam Bogdan is a curious one.
    For some time, I've been urging Liverpool to bring in a goalkeeper who is going to seriously challenge Simon Mignolet for a first team place.
    But I doubt the Belgian will have been overly concerned at hearing the news the Bolton Wanderers man will be on his way in the summer.
    Bogdan wasn't exactly first choice at Bolton, even if injuries accounted for some of that.
    What the Hungarian MUST do is push Mignolet more than Brad Jones did.

    The Australian was by all accounts a positive influence in the dressing room but he wasn't quite at the standard Liverpool require if they want to seriously maintain a challenge for Champions League qualification.
    Mignolet recovered from a difficult few months to emerge as one of our players of the season following the turn of the year.
    To be honest, backup goalkeeper was probably not on the list of priorities for Brendan Rodgers.
    I can see the sense in not spending loads of money on such a player, especially when the savings can be passed on elsewhere.
    But if Mignolet pulls up lame in the first few weeks, then we'll learn if Liverpool have cut corners in the right place or not.
    Phil's a Cout above
    Reds fans missing their football fix are likely to seek out Philippe Coutinho starring in the Copa America.
    He’s arguably our next “big one”, our next star name. Coutinho has trained on significantly in the last 12 months, he can now finish games and he has developed both his talent and his maturity.
    The problem, of course, is if we don’t improve as a team, he’ll be the next one clubs will be sniffing around after Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez.
    But that’s just a fact of life for Liverpool right now.
