He's boring to watch because he's that much better than everyone he fights like Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather. I agree it'll be interesting if someone can put him under pressure and take the fight to him, problem is there is no one around who is able to do that. I'd be happy to be proved wrong but Tyson Fury most definitely isn't that bloke
 
Crikey, you have me watching some of the old fights now. Don Cockel v Marciano. Backs up my view of Marciano. Took him an age to beat Cockel, who was knocked clean out by Randolph Turpin. Marciano was very cumbersome; more like a street fighter. Must have fought a few "bums" to go undefeated.

I wouldn't be confident enough to back Fury against Klitschko but, if Joshua was to knock out Fury, I would bet on Joshua to knock out Klitschko. I would expect bloody good odds though <laugh>

It's easy for us to get carried away with Joshua and talk about him in the same breath as Klitschko and the hope is that he is as good as we think but it's still too early for that. I would be fairly condfident that he could deal with Fury now though
 
My only worry about Joshua at this stage is that he reminds me of Frank Bruno. He still has plenty to prove. Not seen him take a punch so far.

That's the big big question about him Ron. No one as of yet has fought him back so whether he can take a punch is still up for debate
 
It's rooted! Heavyweight boxing is well and truly stuffed. Today I spent a couple of hours pouring of the vids of a lot of the ranked fighters in the premier division, and came away thinking I'd done little more than waste download time. Bad Wlad holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts while the seppo Deontay Wilder has a tenuous grip on the WBA title. Wilder hardly lives up to his name. I've had a look at Povetkin, Perez, Fury, Glazkov, Steverne, Joshua and Jennings who are ranked below Wilder in the WBA, and have to say that none of them are much chop. Joshua is the only one who might make a half decent fighter at some point in the future. Most of the fighters mentioned are ranked in one, two or all of the other organisations which for mine only confirms the parlous state of the division. Klitschko stands alone. Even at the ripe old age of 39, he's so far proven to be a class above everyone else. Love or loathe him, he's been the only man to give any serious credence to the brigade of big bangers. Joshua needs to hang on for a couple of years and hope that father time catches up with Vlad. Wilder's belt is up for grabs though.

Mike Tyson....now there's one overrated fighter. He didn't actually beat anyone that good did he? Whenever he did meet someone decent ie Holyfield and Lewis he got beat up...And yes I know he blew opponents away etc etc but the guys he done that to, well... <laugh> <quicklyrunsfromcomputerasthetysonfanboysgather> :bandit: <laugh>
 
Agreed Beefy. He was just a bully who got beaten up when facing class. Even Bruno almost knocked him out but was too "polite" to finish him off <laugh>

This is why its easy for people to get so excited about Joshua, i don't think people actually realise just how poor the Heavyweight division is. Klitschko gets a lot of criticism but it's not his fault there's no one to challenge him

On Spike (UK) in early hours a very talented Russian boxer called Artur Beterbiev fights on the undercard. He's a light heavyweight who beat the current 'best' light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev twice in the amateurs. He demolished Tavoris Cloud in 2 rounds in something like his 12th fight! Bigger things await him after tonight, either Kovalev again or Adonis Stephenson for one of the titles can't be too far off in his future so he's one to watch out for.
 
You found something there Smoke. Had a look at his latest bout, his ninth, when he came up against Alexander Johnson. He was brutal. Another of those straight back, Eastern European fighters who bang hard with both hands. They are no nonsense fighters. They are good at stalking opponents then smashing them. Even though he's orthodox, he often likes to lead with his right hand and he has a wonderful jab. At one point in the bout, he dropped Johnson with a straight left. Of his 300 amateur fights, he lost just 5. WBA, WBC, IBF and the WBO all have him in the top 5. He certainly looks like a future champion. I'm not too sure that I'd place too muck stock in his wins over Sergey Kovalev as an amateur though. The latter has come on leaps and bounds since those days.
 
I'd agree about his Kovalev wins I just mentioned them to highlight his amateur pedigree the professional game is a whole different ball game and Kovalev looks very special hinself.

Deontay Wilder has his first defence of his WBC heavyweight championship tonight against a nobody in Eric Molina. The heavyweight division really is piss poor

Not convinced about this Beterbiev chap. Can see him getting stopped. Doubt he would last long against either Joshua or Fury, or indeed Wilder
