Chelsea fans are celebrating because Torres has scored his first goal of the season against---Wycombe
Dont over egg it...we are pleased and it's certainly better than him not scoring isn't it?? A few goals in pre season is what he needs to hit the ground running this coming season, not that hard to work out.
We said the same about Darren Bent......it's one thing to bang in 10 goals pre season against "lesser" teams. It's another to score goals in the PL!!
Darren Bent is one of the best natural goal scorers in England, better than Crazy Legs Crane that's for sure
Is every transfer we make a result of tapping up then? Actually, let's take that a bit further...is every transfer the result of tapping up in some way or another?
SW6 I think you are missing the point. This is nothing to do with Crouch. This is to point out that scoring a hatful of goals in pre-season doesn't mean duck egg when it comes to the real biz of the PL.
Appreciated, but both Bent and Torres are proven Premier League scorers who went through a barren patch...we are just waiting to see how Torres comes out of his
It's ironic that the player you guys need the most right now is a Darren Bent type. I guess some managers don't fancy certain players or some moves just don't come off. No denying that Bent is a quality striker when on form though (as is Nando!!).
I assume you are being sarcastic, but just in case you're not then the answer would have to be no, not at all.
The thing about Bent - and Defoe - that amazes me is how many times when clean through he shoots straight at the keeper, rarely to the side of him. A proper striker (Greaves, Owen, Lineker) will place the shot where the keeper needs to do more to save. Bent (and Defoe) get too many through the keepers legs for my liking - not to mention how many are missed. He clearly has ability in terms of finding space, clever movement, but actual shooting ability, very little.
