According to a throwaway line in the Times (a team of released players), Karl Henry has gone. Did we know this already? I lose track.......apologies if this is old news.

Within his obvious limits he did very well last season. But ground zero the right approach. Be patient.

Good thing. All of our players (apart Austin, Phillips, Fer and Barton) were losers last season so better get rid of them.

Henry can trigger an option by the end of June to extend his contract for another year supposedly.

That's it, I remember now. Interesting test of character for a player of his vintage. If the message from Ramsey is 'thanks, but you won't get a kick next season' does he stick and collect the money or twist and go elsewhere?

not so sure about Henry? Actually thought he did okay in a few games. Gets stuck in which is what we need in the Chumpionship.

I understood, he can trigger an option too, and the club have left it open.
To me that means the club have offered him a new (one year) contract but on reduced wages I suspect...as this is why he is hanging out for "a better offer"

So he is hunting round looking for something else but if nowt happens he may re-sign....and as said above he has to the end of June to make up his mind
(fair all round imho)

incidentally he is a player I would keep on those terms, as he is a 100% player, admittedly of lower ability but he was "OK" in the prem so should be "OK" in the championship...just the player to bring on to hold a 1-0 win for the last 20 minutes

Agreed.

Only if he's SWP .................... personally, I'd keep him, thinking he may proved beneficial this coming season.

Would definitely keep, perfect for championship and we have to have some consistency. Changing everyone could see us drop again.

He looked like our best player during the first 10 games of last season and was fairly consistent throughout the rest.

I'm not sure about the option business though. If it's two years with an optional year, just make it three - both parties can move on after two if they both agree. The option just means both are tethered even if one party wants out (and then the other party clearly knows it so the strained relationship is made overtly obvious). I can't imagine reduced terms can be negotiated otherwise the club could say minimum wage and utilise their option and if if that isn't the case then it's just two years and we've offered him a new contract?

Agree with Croydon - did well when he was played, happy to do the job the manager asked of him (think playing left midfield against the scum) and always gave 100% - only negative for me is he's a Tory

Agree. He would do a reasonable job and always tried at least.

Hes done ok in the PL against the so called best so I would expect even better from him in Championship...........

I agree, he should be able to perform more than adequately as a key DCM player next season - he knows his limitations & strengths and gets stuck in.

Given his age this is the right league for him to perform providing our salary offer is sensible.

A bargain compared to SWP:-

If the figures on that site can be relied on and SWP earned $845k last year that would equate to $16,250 p/w which is just over £10k p/w

Figures bandied around here and elsewhere suggest he was on 4 times that - also begs the question how do they know?

Keep him and sell Sandro to try and re-coup some of the £6m or £10m we paid for him depending on which journal/website you read and believe.....

Did the holding job well last time we were in Championship, knows his limitations and basically does the simple things well....that way he can allow the younger lads play the box to box roll.....
