Problem is the more we have up for it the happier the mafia will be as the better their odds are, unless in some miracle world where two of them end up in the tie but I just don't see how they could let that happen.

They're not, IMO. No Mafia are in the tie. Follow my lead and see what happens.
Well I'm afraid fella by my estimations there's 13 other innocent townies in the game and I'm not sure any of them have gotten it so far.

I think
a) some of those up have not come on.
b) if they have team mates they are not defending them
c) its more likely they are innocents
d) if game really is random there are more town roles than mafia/cartel so might have a better chance of losing a role

Thing is to force a reaction they have to not be comfortable playing the odds, if there's 5 tied and one mafia in there, they're just going to let it happen. If there's 2 or 3 tied and a mafia in there, that's when they have a conundrum.
