The joke without the smiley again. I'm telepathic, don't you know.
I was just thinking the subject matter (a silly game), and the over-exaggerated expressions ("goddam" etc) would be enough to suggest my jokey attitude. Smileys are too bloody easy.
Maybe, but not for the receiver. I constantly have to remind posters that what might be going on in their head might not be reflected in the mind of the person receiving the post. Conveying a clear message is what Smileys were invented for. The alternative is to write reams so as to cover every nuance of meaning, so that the receiver doesn't get confused. Now, which would you rather do.?
