Did very well for Derby last season and always had a good scoring record, the usual moaners will say no because he's 31 but as a free agent and a proven goalscorer it's a no brainer for me if we had the chance, more likely he'll go to Derby though!
Did have a good campaign in Championship laat season, but isn't this the type of player we are trying to avoid?
Strange the way Paul Lambert wouldn't start him when he was villa record signing and they needed goals

Further to Darren Bent, news reaches us that he has signed for Derby County after being released by Aston Villa.
The former England striker scored 12 goals in 17 appearances during a loan spell at the Championship club last term.
Derby have also confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland international defender Alex Pearce from Reading.

What's the story with the guy? I really thought that he was a good signing by Spurs at the time. Another one that didn't make the most of his career.

By that stupid logic Charlie Austin is a crap player for not firing us to safety?

Well the 'logic' in my argument was that Derby were doing just fine without him, top of the table in fact.
They then bring in Bent who despite on paper produced a good goal return, offers a team nothing defensively, nothing in the air, and get's dispossessed frequently.
They then finish outside the play offs.
Was it all Bent's fault? Of course not, but there's a reason Villa wanted nothing to do with him, a reason Spurs got rid of him etc.
Why would you want a 31 year old signing for us who is akin to the SWP's, Bartons?
Expensive managers and England internationals on the way down? I hope we got money for selling them our blueprint for the last four years!
