one way to look at it tobes, another way is get the freebies out the way and squad fillers, and then save the serious money for some worldies to add to the first team
He has already gone some way to ingratiating himself to Reds, having scored against both Everton and Manchester United last season. Ings failed to feature in just three Premier League games last season, when a minor hamstring issue kept him out of a trio of consecutive fixtures in late September. this is just signalling that he is likely to be a total sick note best we could fill up the 10 things to know about was well he got injured last September
I think this is a poor move for Ings himself, he's not going to get the amount of game time at Anfield that a striker needs to establish himself, he's going to be used like Lambert was imo and that's not what he needs for his second season in the PL He'd have been far better served going somewhere he'd have been the first choice striker. Unless he's been given that assurance by Brendan that is...........in which case you're in for a summer of disappointment
he's chosen to go on a free so he's the one who's made his bed I agree he will be used ala lambert, though i expect he will get slightly more game time IF Rodgers ever wanted him of course. we still don't know who is picking the players to buy nor who is going.
I agree >Either he's down the pecking order for us, which is not going to be good for his development at all. Could be Borini all over again. However, we do have the slog of EL for him to help us with. >Or he's Rodger's cheap and cheerful solution to our striker problem.
sorry but the top clubs have 3/4 striekrs each. in 2009 we had kuyt playing RW, babel a winger, n'dog.. possible the worst ever and torres.. we threw keane out the door.. result.. one injury and we were toast. now the other side of that is sturridge, badontelly, loamber and borini.. dross which was so bad sterling was put in at 9. Never mind the future for ings... lets wake up here reds. Loric remy joined cheslea.. they got him cheap and prob will sell on a t a profit... they said, need a guy don't care for the long term. LFC just snatched a young english player for 5mil... chump change... if we get one year out of him in europa and sell him on in 12 months time for 10mil its great business. and trust me there are 10 clubs in this league who will pay that tomorrow for a striker.
I see it as Rodgers has his strikers now. Sturridge, Origi and Ings. This is what sticking with Rodgers gets you.
We have Europa this coming season and unlike the CL where you have to play your best team, this is a competition when combined with the league cup allows a player like Ings settle down and start scoring goals. Harry Kane was hardly used in the first third of the season but the Europa allowed him to get goals and change the managers thinking. If he turns out half as good as Kane, I will not be complaining.
If you sold him in 12 months time for £10m you'd probably cover all of the costs associated with his signing i.e. The development fee to Burnley, wages, agents fees, signing on fees etc. Since when did Liverpool become a club that took up first team squad places with 'investments'?
why tobes back in the day rafa used to boast he increased the squad value. In case you missed it dear friend.. this is exactly how cheslea now work given you gave them the money for a reserve/kid they bought so they could then go and buy febregas. If LFC hoover up as many as we can which is the whole FSG strategy not all will play for us for 10 years, a good proportion will be sold on.... at a profit.
conventional wisdom is between 4 and 6 mil. we bid (rumoured) 3mil in january and burnley took the view they would get more if they held out and they wanted to stay up too. 5 seems a fair number to me. we will prob hear undisclosed when something is agreed frankly.
Nope, not even close Chelsea's strategy was to hoover up as many top drawer youngsters as possible (before FFP kicked in) but then loan them out so they got plenty of first team football, which enhanced both their talent and their value They didn't pick up them up on Bosmans to sit in their own squad......
and they've stopped hooivering? I think not. they have a better loan system but LFC have done a little work. Wisdom and ibe are good examples. coates is a bad example cos we over paid day one but we might get him shifted. Ilori is another example. rumours are alberto will be a profit though i fail to see how. Cheslea are just stellar at it. LFc just pockets a cheap english talent and can sell on if we proves to be not up to it. thats the end to it sorry...
No, if we were doing a Chelsea we would be sending Ings out on loan now, not making him our likely first choice striker.
