Has anyone heard who this person is who has reportedly contacted Benteke's agent pretending to be Brendan and has been given answers, only cottoned on at end of chat on talksport, sounded funny?
I disagree. I think the priority is building a spine to the team. The most critical weakness to our spine is DM so that is priority for me. We cant keep relying on goal scoring. We need to stop conceding them and control possession better to.
But what's the point of hoping for a DM when we know deep down that we won't actually get one as Rodgers doesn't like to play with a DM. I mean let's face it, if we did sign a DM, we all know Brendan will end up playing him in goal or something.
I haven't been confident of scoring more than one goal in our games all season simply because there hasn't been a striker half the time in the squad and the other half it was Lambert of Mario whom Rodgers doesn't even pick a side to fit their strengths and never will. He needs a striker so that his one plan has a hope of working when Danny is out. Basically we need a DM and a striker though; one alone won't solve our problems.
I havnt been confident in a clean sheet for 3 years. 1 goal could be enough if the team could keep a clean sheet. Rafa build a solid defense and spine before getting his striker. Mourinho to. Our team needs that fine. We actually have a decent striker in Sturridge. He is just injured a lot. But if we had a solid spine I'd feel comfortable enough with Ings supported by Coutinho and Lallana for 1 season.
Mignolet earnt that from one solid 13 game run.But weare still so clumsy in possession and in defense.
Just over a third of the season without conceding would suggest your attack is at fault, not the defence.
Manchester United have had an offer of £110m for Real Madrid's Wales international forward Gareth Bale, 25, and defender Raphael Varane, 22, rejected by the La Liga club. (Daily Express) De Gea has already said his goodbyes to his Manchester United team-mates as the Old Trafford club brace themselves for a £20m bid from Real Madrid for his services. (Daily Star) Chelsea are planning a £30m move for 27-year-old Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. (Daily Star) please log in to view this image Liverpool are set to announce the signing of James Milner in the coming days after agreeing personal terms with the Manchester City midfielder, the Times report Liverpool are believed to have offered Milner a contract worth £150,000-a-week in wages after he rejected City's offer of £165,000-a-week. Arsenal were unwilling to match Liverpool's offer. Former Liverpool vice-captain Jamie Carragher suggested yesterday that Milner could take over the captaincy at Anfield following Steven Gerrard's departure. Current vice-captain Jordan Henderson looks the most likely to take the armband but Rodgers is yet to make a decision. Carragher told Kicca: "The fact that Rodgers wouldn't confirm Jordan Henderson as this season's captain - even though he was captain in Steven Gerrard's absence last season - makes me think him and Milner could be competing for the armband."
I think it's a good thing to give the captaincy to Milner. He's new and has an unknown X-factor as far as the squad is concerned. He could rally the side and help improve the team spirit. In 2013/14 I was happy for Hendo to be future captain. Where was he in the season just ended? Where was he when the team needed lifting during the run-in.
Milner as captain? What leadership qualities has he ever shown? He's a quiet boy on and off the pitch. Has he ever been a captain before? Being 29 doesn't mean he's leader. Also, experience isn't what this team needs. It's quality. Would you rather have Coutinho at 21 or Lallana at 26? Or Gerrard at 24 or Gerrard at 34? I think experience is the biggest myth in football.
Finally a ray of sunshine in what has been a miserable week - Skrtel is annoyed at the recent contract he's been offered. Hopefully he'll be off soon.
