I agree with the general point but Ancelotti is actually considering going back to AC Milan and they're not in the CL. In fact it's understood he is only deciding between either taking over at Milan or taking a break.

Alot of the time I think Rodgers is tactically inept and this season has been a farce, but Klopp, Benitez and Ancelotti are not available for one reason or another so might aswell see what happens for another season. Bit of continuity never did anyone any harm. Really dont know what to expect post Gerrard, we are going to have to try an re-establish an identity of sorts. All a bit depressing really. Hopefully we buy someone awesome that no one else has noticed and him, Can, Ibe, Coutinho and Sakho turn us into a force.

Didn't the renowned Lord Ferguson of Salford once say that "only big clubs have been champions of Europe more than 3 times"?

Doesn't say a lot for the size of one time winning clubs.

    Depressing news.

What was needed was change , impetus, and a sign that we needed a new era. What will now change ? Will balotelli work his guts off like a Suarez? Will lovren suddenly become a top defender? Will he himself suddenly become an astute tactitician and get one over the likes of Mourinho and Wenger ?

I wish I am wrong but there will be more of the same. Why do FSG trust him with 50-60m of spending in the summer? The purchases last summer were a total failure (with very few exceptions ) and he had a say in them, whether he likes or not. All the top clubs gave made buying mistakes but it looks that the ones making the fewest are the clubs with the success.

Can your dislike of Rodgers be explained as a lover's tiff? <yikes><whistle>

More generally (not necessarily aimed at you), sacking Rodgers only makes sense if someone decent were to replace him. With Klopp, Ancelotti and Benitez having effectively ruled themselves out, there don't seem to be too many options in the market.

It's a big summer. There are several key positions that need filling. If we can move on from the whole Gerrard saga, if we can forge a new identity, if the team is united and manages finally consistently display the qualities we were promised, then we can be competitive again. If not...

At the end of the day, we all want Liverpool. And I would love for Rodgers to be the man that gets Liverpool to succeed. But this season much have used up most of his good credit.

I've been busy with mafia and watching telly.

    <diva>

This is great news. Our owners are in control and have backed our manager who is <magic>

Our club is on the up. I have total faith in our building up from where we were and now look forward to a solid summer of planning purchases and an improved team again next year.

Chin up all you misery guts. Ynwa

    He's not going back

Ancelotti said: "Thanks to AC Milan for their interest. It was hard to say no to such a beloved club to me, but I need some rest. I wish them the best."

Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti had recently indicated that he was considering taking a year's sabbatical and having surgery on a back problem following his dismissal.

"I must have an operation because of spinal stenosis that for some time creates a tingle in my hands," he was quoted as telling Il Giornale.

"I don't know how long the period of recovery will be," he added. "I can assure you that I've had plenty of offers from Italy, England, Germany. I'm sure they will not be lacking from here until next year." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32935485

Yep, I was just expressing he seems to be more than about the money or glory. He genuinely cares for that club. In fact he's just tonight turned them down having met with Galliani his sole reason being he needs the surgery on his back. It was the only club he spoke to.

Shame rafa didnt show the same attachment for his supposedly "beloved" liverpool :bandit:

We never ****ing asked. Who's the jilted one there??

But Ancelotti would only consider non CL with Milan, couldn't see him doing that with any other club, he's not exactly itching to go back to Parma is he!!

Who knows if he was asked. We just know he's only considering Real. And lets be honest if he had both offers on the table we know he'd pick Real <whistle>

Dont understand the relevance to Parma. Whatever his links to Milan, the fact he only considered them despite (as DR's post says) he was getting offers all across europe from top clubs, shows a manager who isnt solely driven by immediate glory, even if it is just for sentiment.

This is not quite fair mate. People who want him gone get accused of being emotional, hysterical and fair weather fans . In fact, it is people who are asking to go who are more rational.

If you look at the cold facts without any emotion, Rodgers taking LFC to 6th from 2nd is a deterioration. Our squad reinforced with £120m of new blood is not as good as last seasons squad minus Suarez. He was below par in the CL and his performances poor against the top teams.

Rationally there are no good reasons for keeping him. Except emotional ones like he is a good man, he has had a good run of 10 matches against teams in the lower half, lfc give managers a chance etc.

That line was just a joke about Jimmy's typo <ok>

There's no doubting that last season was bad, and long-term not acceptable. If the same happens next season, he'll be gone (or he should be at least). I was one for giving him the season to give him the time to work things out, let the new players bed in, get Sturridge back from injury etc. Fact is, apart from the odd performance, we never really shone all season, and most worrying was the drop-off in the last few weeks.

I no better options are available (which they don't appear to be right now), then I would agree with giving him the start of next season. But things have to improve.
