I know, I know, yet another Luka Modric article, but going by what Harry is saying here I can't help but feel a little more confident that not only is Luka going to stay, but that he isn't going to be stroppy about it. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_7033794,00.html?utm_source=sky&utm_medium=spurs
As much as I love arry, he is just a football man doing his best to keep a player he wants to stay but Modric will be gone if chelsea decide to make a serious bid of 35 million plus and I expect they will and I also expect modric will do all he can to push through the move.
To be honest, Harry has to keep coming out and saying this, if and when and until a move looks like a certainty. At this stage of the game, it's all about who buckles first. If Levy and Redknapp keep to the 'he's not for sale' line, it just ups the ante for Chelsea to come in with a silly money bid. If they admit that he's as good as gone, then they can kiss goodbye to anything over £27m
totally agree canaryspurs, the ball is in Levy's court, and if he say's he's staying there's nothing Modric can do.He can put in a transfer Request, but Leavy can still say no.i've read a lot of bj posts, and they alot of Bulls***
BJ - I think you could be fairly close there. Anything around double your money - 30 million could do the trick.
You're right you don't have to, but if the player throws a hissy fit, then do you really want to pay him 50K a week to sit in the stands, plus find a replacement? It's not rubbish, it's a fairly balanced view, one that appears to be fairly lacking on here.
More nonsense from somebody who won't be experiencing premiership football (in class or in fact) anytime soon. Tottenham will not sell it's best player for 30 million, with six years on his contract. Now haven't you got people to bore on the Doncaster board?
A request is...a request, its not a demand, and it sounds to me like there's no trigger clause at this early stage in his unusually long 6 yr deal. So a request can and will be turned down. The 3 idiots that think that we will then pay 50k or whatever to a player "sitting in the stands" is just utter crap. Really poor wummage, pretending to be concerned...go away! Do you honestly in your wildest dreams think a player like Modric is going to throw a strop and jeopardise not only his club, but International hopes. Of course not, he'll play on to the best of his ability, to the Goon, as has Fabregas. Modric is clinging allegedly to a verbal agreement, indicating a strong possibility there's nothing written. I just cannot see Levy taking a strong stance on this without knowing he's in the driving seat, he knows whats in that contract...you 3 don't, none of us do. But it looks like theres nothing the player, his agent, Chelsea, or Bosman rules can do about it, unless Spurs want to sell...and we don't.
If Modric throws a hissy fit and refuses to play he's in breach of contract and we don't have to pay him
The other thing about this Croatian Interview is when did it happen?, and why has the player not confirmed it took place, by talking to someone else in the media...of the country he's actually in!
