Funny you should say that. Have a gander at this piece from Shoot magazine. http://www.shoot.co.uk/category/news/who-should-norwich-sign-this-summer/
Written by Cory Varney! I used to write a few articles on a previous Website with him! Good to see he's still going strong! Talks a lot of sense. He mentions Getting Chrissy back and if he could be guaranteed to have his head on straight I would jump at the chance. Always felt it was the wrong move letting him go (Though he clearly benefitted from the move) and think he is an excellent striker now and well worth a shot in the Prem!
I feel like Chrissy benefits form being away from where he grew up. There was too much temptation for him. The move away was put just good for his career it probably kept him out of prison. I love seeing a player from our academy do well and if he is genuinely grown up and capable of acting maturely I'd welcome him home. For his sake though I don't think he should.
I fully agree. You'd like to think he is far more mature now and wouldn't get pulled into the more unpleasant side of things now. Doubt it'd happen but I'd love it if it did.
I'm a big fan of Martins technical ability, he's excellent at Championship level and built like a brick ****house, but his mobility is so poor he will not create the space for himself in this Division. He always looks severely overweight to me.
Anyone remember when Robert Fleck returned to the club after a lengthy spell away? Wasn't all it was built up to be, sadly. Not saying players shouldn't return to former clubs, but .....
He returned at the end of his career, we're talking about Martin coming back in his prime. On the pitch I think it would go well although I agree slightly with Carrabuh.
I'd say he's exactly the mould of striker we need. We've got 2 with pace in Jerome and Grabban. Hooper is a great finisher and has intelligent movement but lacks that physical presence. Jerome is strong and can bully defenders but his hold up play is lacking. A Martin style attacker, for me, is who we should be after, so we have plenty of options. That's why I mentioned Charlie Austin earlier in this thread. Plus, Holt wasn't exactly gifted with pace or amazing movement but he got 15 goals in his first season in the Prem, and in the twilight of his career to boot(Age wise I mean). Shouldn't right players off before they've even been given a chance.
Hadn't seen that shoot article, apparently others rate him highly too then! Agree with the general consensus on Martin, I don't see him as the answer and the additional concerns him living in Norfolk brings means I don't think it's a sensible risk.
i would rather go for the likes of Ings from Burnley and agree with DH Canary re Martin living back in Norfolk,
Another name to conjur with: Alfred Finnbogason. Real Sociedad want to loan him out as he has only scored 2 goals in 23 games for Sociedad. Everton seem to be the favourites, so I can't see it happening for us. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015...nd-norwich-interested-in-alfred-finnbogason/? We'd do as well to keep RvW, IMO.
Surely we should be looking at some young hungry players like our manager. Martin would fit the mould, but I don't think a move back to Norfolk would be right for him or the club.
Not on loan I wouldn't want him, but for the right price I think he could be perfect - he has an incredible record everywhere else and Moyes has a habit of ruining strikers with his style.
Cameron McGeehan looks like he's been sold to Luton Town. Good luck, and thanks for the fantastic FA Youth Cup memories Cam
