Just wait.... it all smacks of Laudrup Koemans plan is defend defend defend and hope to nick one. His forms been woeful for a good while. They have to pick it up next season big time.
Having spent over £100million on new players, including nearly £50million on Saints players, did you expect to finish only two points ahead of Southampton?
Svensson was a very good player. He and Lundekvam were a good partnership. Shame injury ended his top flight career early.
We had a "better first team" and definitely "stronger squad" than Utd for years, it didn't stop Utd getting a few hard fought results against us.
Liverpool fans have been claiming that they've had a better squad/team than United for as long as I can remember. It was true up until I was about 16!
Two seasons ago Utd were the reigning league champions and spent almost £60 million, did you expect Utd to finish 20 points behind a team that finished 7th the previous season. You're pissing into the wind Shteve, like you believe Utd are on the same level as Chelsea no doubt even though they finished 17 points better off than Utd.
Really?, you mean a couple of guys down at your local?, someone you heard talking on the bus maybe? The only time I've saw it said on here was maybe last season when during Moyes season when we actually did, but even going back before Fergie won his 1st title at OT Utd fans said a similar thing, don't believe all you read in the papers or online Shteve.
Nope. It was an unpleasant surprise. Fortunately a temporary blip in the United / Liverpool rivalry! Nope. Can't recall saying that this season. I'm sure you can prove otherwise. If not, pipe down!
It was most prevalent during the Spice Boys era. Liverpool fans genuinely thought they had the best team in England. There was also a severe bout of delusion when the FSW was running the asylum.
"temporary blip"? Fergie ain't there no more Shteve, if you believe that Utd's status in terms of the league are the same as they were 3 managers ago you obviously do think the club are on par with Chelsea. As for the 2nd part, I never said you personally did, I said some did, can't be arsed looking for posts but UIR and matth for two(and others) stuck their necks out and predicted the title going to OT last season based LvG's success's at other clubs in other countries.
Temporary blip in the United / Liverpool rivalry. Now back on track. Only you keep bringing up Chelsea. You must be reading and bashing away at your keyboard too quickly. I'm not UIR or matth. If you want to squabble about what they said then please direct your anger and frustration at them.
Where is Astrolad anyway. Has he finally found a new craft to take him back into space?? Funny how we just call it 'space' isn't it?? Like what's all this dark **** up there with the occasional massive **** off gas giant every several million miles and comets and meteors whipping around, oh just space that
If you're not underdogs then how do you explain to two losses to us this season then? losing twice ice to a ****ter team, must have been humiliating for you and I'd consider sacking the manager for that
How embarrassing finishing below us if they have a better said and first team... Must be a **** manager in that case then? or Rodgers has worked miracles with a shoot team
Quite the opposite you will find. Ronald Koeman has tweaked the system/tactics and signed the right players that has finally bridged the gap between Southampton and Lpool but he cannot take all the credit, the backwards spiral that Rodgers has overseen is what has made it all possible. Who could have predicated in the late 70s/80s or when Saints went into league 1 and admin in 09 that by the summer of 2015 that Southampton would be on a par with Liverpool ? 'Dare to dream' to coin a phrase that is familiar with you scousers !
But in your own words you have a better first 11 and squad... So only the manager can be a reason you finished below us
Guess again, you will find that was Diego. Southampton have not got a better first XI or squad than Liverpool which is hardly a surprise seeing the money that has been ploughed into Liverpool. Blame what you want ( I put it down to blatant ineptitude on many fronts) but Liverpool have regressed to where Saints are at which is upper midtable. As us Saints fans have learned the better players will push for moves to play at a higher level ( a gap that no longer exists between Saints and Liverpool if I may add) this fall from the summit was made clear when Raheem Sterling told Liverpool to shove that new contract up their bollocks !
or Rodgers has worked miracles with a shoot team [/QUOTE] That was me and I stick by it (at least the first 11). Of your first team I would only put Coutinho in Southamptons team, I could make a case for Sturridge based on his form with Suarez but will be interested to see how he performs without that lift.
