With all the big clubs sniffing around and leaking their derisory bids to the media, I often wonder why we don't counter their low-ball offers for our players with a **** bid of own. Seems good politics to me. Of course, we won't get the players, but I think it would:
a) A proper up-yours right back at Rogers if we bid 20m for Stirling right after their **** Clyne bid. Two can play this game!
b) Project power. Perhaps it would give the young lads a second thought before they jump ship. And who knows, may positively enhance the psychology of the team.
c) Media attention = commercial revenue
Can anyone think of smaller clubs trying this tactic? Specific bids?
