    Is right mate.

There's always good players to be had at lower levels of the game, and they're generally more hungry for it than some bloated ego, multi millionaire journeyman prick like Bellendtelli.

  3. Can't recall but obviously the signings got better as we continued to do well in the CL eventually becoming the number one coefficient in Europe for a time period. That one was a very good / big signing though, appreciated in the record transfer fee too.

  4. As I keep saying, if you're not wanting to sign players from equal or lower ranked teams, not wanting bench warmers from equal or high ranked teams and aren't wanting to spend record figures building a team, who the **** are you going to sign?

Creating a genuine team is also about buying the right characters to compliment what you already have.

It's not all about abilitiy, it's about personality, with drive, passion, teamwork and pride being just as important when you're up against it and need grit to get a result.

Some managers don't pay enough attention to the non-playing aspect and the whole team dynamic......they generally fail.

for the record in torres last season they finished 7th were not in europe and he socred 15 goals

they followed that up after selling him with aguero scoring 19 goals, they finihsed 4th and got to last 32 of europa.

they then followed that up in 09 by reaching CL QF, had deigo forlan as top scorer on 32 league goals and again finished 4th

They slumped then to 9th in legue but won europa after losing out in groups on CL.. and they had forlan top scorer on 18

it was 2011/12 when aguero left that the got in falcao and won europa again and hired in simeone for present successes

Torres was very much up and coming when we signed him and atletico were no power house.

they've sold to get in players and done very well at it.. the southampton of spain? no not really..

Going off what Tony Evans said. <ok>

And Rodgers wasn't gushing when he was offered Sturridge in the summer on loan. Crazily enough, that was when he had control over transfers.

But then the committee came in Jan, and we ended up signing him ...

Nah, that must just be a massive coincidence. <ok>

You're right - but players like Mascherano, Alonso, Agger, Reina were all touted as quality young players (in their early 20's). They came with a glowing reputation.

There is a massive difference when comparing them to the likes of Adam, Downing etc who have zero reputation in world football.

Hyypia and Arbeloa are very good example though. <ok>

My gripe is mainly about buying in the domestic market.

riiiiight so a press hack saying x now over rides the clear 110% backing rodgers gave to this signing the day it was made and every day since and how he's gushed over him from day one.

and how when it was 18mil and we didn't go do the deal that summer rodgers was fuming but when we "waited" and got "our man" that had nothing to do with rodgers

    SUUUUURRREEE...

you keep forging the committee if it makes you feel good.

Press hack? One of the few journo's who has a real connection with the club?

And Rodgers was happy when Sturridge signed? Shock - I would have expected Rodgers to say Sturridge was sh*t and that he didn't want him.

Wasn't Rodgers complimentary towards Mario as well? He must have really wanted him as well therefore we should blame him for the signing.

And Rodgers wasn't fuming that we didn't get Sturridge. He was fuming because we didn't bring in Dempsey and ended up selling Carroll without a replacement.

He was given the chance to sign Sturridge and loan but refused.

So it looks like we are stuck with Balo. I reckon the only interest was clubs and salaries he and his agent didn't want. After last season he's untouchable imo (the bad kind of untouchable). He's been that bad.

Mario Balotelli: Liverpool striker will 'definitely stay' at Anfield
Italy striker Mario Balotelli will not leave Liverpool this summer, according to his agent Mino Raiola.

Balotelli joined Liverpool from AC Milan for £16m in August 2014 but has only scored one Premier League goal in his first season at Anfield.

It has been reported the 24-year-old is a player the Reds want to move on.

When asked if Balotelli would leave the Merseyside club in the summer, Raiola told Sky Sports: "No. We had talks with Liverpool and he will definitely stay."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said in January that Balotelli had to work harder in training and adapt to the club's methods.

"I think Mario did adapt," Raiola added. "I can't talk about Brendan Rodgers, obviously that is something for Brendan, but I think Mario did.

"I have spoken at various times to the club and they were happy with his input and professionalism.

"Obviously we have to improve the performance but I am really confident that will happen this year."

Well, if he convinced Liverpool to spend 16 million on Mario, 25 million on Lallana, 20 million each on Markovic and Lovren, 15 million on Joe Allen, 11 million on Borini.... he could be quite a good agent.

    <whistle>

Agent speak for: he's going ****ing nowhere until he gets his 'loyalty' payments as he's not going to put in a transfer request.
