That is terrific counter to anyone who simply relies of data and statistics rather than watching performances. You will not find a single Saints fan that would want Lovren over Toby. Not one.
There is one key stat missing:
**** ups per game:
Alderweireld: 0.01
Lovren: Infinite.
Just shows that Lovren had to do more work. Toby had apparently less to do because we were better organised. No way Lovren had a better season than Alderweireld.
Lovren had that one game where he left after like 15 minutes or something. Also he played DMC and right back for a bunch of games where his roles were different. That's going to skew the stats if you just take total number of X divided by games played.
That said, Lovren and Alderweireld probably are much closer than most of us perceive. Lovren was after all, quite good for us. Just goes to show how important managers are in implementing tactics and organizing things to put the right players in the right roles. And it hints at how valuable Fonte is in understanding the defense and keeping things together mid-game.

Let's be honest here, if we discount Lovrens appalling behaviour last summer and his awful performances for Scousehampton, he was actually a very good centre back for us working very well with Capt Fantastic.

Fonte praised Lovren only recently, so he must have something going for him, though I think he trailed off towards the end of the season.
After his rather long injury lay off he didn't really truly recover his pre lay off form
Where's the sport in admitting that? Much more fun just to laugh at him and Liverpool now.

Because he has formed a relationship with the team which supercedes that with a friend? I think he would like to stay, but there will be a lot of water under the bridge before this is settled.
