I remember gerrard saying something along the lines of if Liverpool offered him a contract earlier he would have stayed maybe there's problems with the way Liverpool are run.

Also sterling is not a born Liverpool fan he was born and raised in london. Us londoners aren't to keen on living outside of London

The slagging off he had received from ex Liverpool players right or wrong won't motivate you to stay

He looks around the Liverpool dressing room and sees the likes off Allen, lallana, lovren, borini and ballotelli all in and around the 1st team all very average

He looks around the England dressing room and sees players he probably thinks he's better than earning more than him and I know footbal players earn a ridiculous amount but if you feel you are better at your job then your colleague you want more money than them

Also your star players are sturridge and coutinhio who won't get into any of the other top sides starting 11 apart from sturridge at arsenal

All of the above as a collection are justifiable reasons to want to leave

Also if you think you guys are getting 40 mill for him you are crazy city have been fvkd by ffp United dont need him chelsea have been more responsible with money over the years and us at arsenal have wenger

You arrogant ****.<laugh>

What are you fellers smoking down at The Emirates.

He needs to look at himself before he looks at others, he's won **** all and he's contributed to us winning **** all since nailing down a first team place.
You reckon he's entitled to overinflated wages based on the above but that we aren't allowed to ask an overinflated transfer fee for the toerag.

btw Arsenal haven't won the league title for a long time and have never lifted the CL bit of a reality check needed for you, Arsenal are currently 12 points behind the Champions and are not as good as Chelsea or City and certainly not as good as the top European Clubs.
So should Sterling opt for a move to Arsenal he can expect maybe an FA Cup medal every 6yrs and take part in Arsenal's annual CL disappointment.<ok>

Just had a quick look round and this seems to be the case <ok>

I once read that a player could not buy out his contract if under the age of 23 but can find nothing on this now

That's how I thought it was too. Maybe it changed at some point

1. Gerrard didn't deserve a new contract so nothing wrong with the way that was handled.

2. He's been offered a contract of 100k so seeing players earning more than him is irrelevant. If he'd taken that he'd be one of best paid 20 year olds in the world.

3. Coutinho wouldn't get into the United team? <laugh>

4. FFP has just been relaxed so City can go ahead and slunk away their money.

5. Has best stats for a 20 year old in Europe, is English and HG, has 2 years on his contract and Liverpool aren't strugomg for cash. £40m might be optimistic, but £35m isn', especially as QPR get 20%

Rodgers.<laugh>

If supporters want to show the player their feelings about the situation its got nothing to do with Rodgers.

He's just asking for support. Sterling's agent ****ed up massively and handed LFC the moral high ground. Rodgers doesn't want to lose a single step of that ground to ensure we get the best outcome for the club.

STFU for 90 minutes and help the club maximise the money, then slate him as much as you want for the next decade, though I'd still prefer you to sing about our own players [HASHTAG]#bigclub[/HASHTAG]

The agent works for Sterling, the player was quick to gob off in his unauthorised interview on the BBC so his silence about what his agent said earlier in the week points to him agreeing with him.

In which case he can rightly expect stick on Sunday, still can't get my head around just how much of a soft touch LFC are these days.

Sterling has also previously said he would have accepted the £60k/£70k offer.

If he has the best stats of a 20 year old in Europe, why are some Liverpool fans saying he would be a bench warmer/squad player at a big club?

So he is the best young player at a big club already. An yet if he leaves one big club, he will be a bench warmer at another

I agree with you that we are not on the same level as chelsea city not so much we are pretty close to them in terms of 1st 11 and squad depth but we are miles ahead of you guys a young squad with a few stars in Santa ozil and sanchez we are a lot closer to competing then you also I don't think your recent trophy history is a lot better than ours I might be wrong in the 10 years since you won the champions league yes we haven't won it I am aware you have a fa cup and a league cup. You are currently up on us 1 trophy with the league cup that might change next week

Btw I don't want sterling at arsenal would rather that money be spent on a DM to compete with la coq and a new striker

Interesting developments... and IF true, what little respect some of may have had for the lad have all but gone..
ITK (yes, I know... they know ****e most of the time, but this guys been pretty decent!) has tweeted a conversation along the lines of:

Rodgers: "Raheem, I gave you your chance at 17, show some respect over the deal situation"
Sterling: "**** Off"

He's obviously attending the Prof. Aidy Ward school of Public Relations!

I'm not sure either to be honest... if he's in the squad/starting then we know its bollocks, if he's not even in the squad then the above could be nearer the truth...

Been at least a week so thought I'd bring this up again. Nothing from the club or Sterling it's clear he wants to go and for the money we'd be daftt to hang on to him. What's going on?

What if we shock all and sundry this summer and actually sign some decent players meaning we push on and not only gain top four but manage to somehow win something? Would Sterling then sign a new deal (presuming he's contributed to that achievement) for less than the £100k he says he never wanted? Would fans accept such a u-turn?

I expect him to be sold this summer but we all know how ****ed up our club can be <laugh>

This is the thing - Sterling and his rep have handled this terribly. But the crux of the problem is that our team is crap, and signings so far are underwhelming. It's why our top players want to leave. Putting Sterling in a position where he is one of our best players is the issue, and that's down to management IMO.

I'd like to see some action at this point be bold either tell him and announce he won't be sold or put him up for sale. This half arsed attitude from modern clubs is dull.
I'd rather see a statement from the club putting him up for sale and setting the price other than all the wrangling that will go on for months.
