I'm not baiting Chaz. He's the one who's unloaded both barrels on a thread which was obviously only intended for a bit of humour, not me.

Yesterday he was F-ing & blinding about Prince Charles shaking Gerry Adams' hand (a reasonable stance to be fair) but then today he comes out with stuff like "regrettable as it is, war is a dirty business" and "you reap what you sow", which are the precise words I've heard the IRA use in the past. Can you imagine what Chaz would say if he heard a Shinner coming out with that? Yet if someone wandered onto this Site today & didn't know any better, they could be forgiven for thinking Chaz was a Sinn Fein mouthpiece such are their similarities!

Its an absurd (and unsympathetic) position to take regarding innocent modern day Germans going about their business and who are apparently vulnerable to these dormant explosives. All the more absurd given that the man who he decided to engage for presenting some statistics is himself a long-time researcher of Allied Aircraft & missions yet remains respectfully neutral regarding modern day innocents like any good scholar of the period would do.

I'm wary of Tory war-hawks, Tramore. I think they're a danger to everyone.

Interesting take. We've more than forgiven the Romans. We venerate them, teach about them in our schools and admire their engineering in historic cities. We even teach their language in some schools though we do also teach German!

Gave us triangular noses and an Audrey Hepburn film but apart from that, what have they done?

I'm afraid Latin is the language of the Americas (or so says Dan Quayle).

Swords, I think the posts from Chaz and myself were aimed at the sympathy for the Germans by AussieQPR for being bombed more than us, not the thread itself.

What do you suggest then? Put an exclusion zone around Chaz? Send in the SAS to take him out? You really do come out with some bollox...

DIMEBAR, Aussie is an amature historian who specialises in the RAF's role in the war, along with other Allied aircraft. If I remember correctly, his initial interest in his subject of choice was due to familial connections to the war & his passionate reverence for all the soliders who went off to fight against Hitler. So given his standing in this area, I think it was highly inappropriate for a right wing nutter to jump on him the moment he made a simple statistical observation and start giving it the "reap what you sow" malarkey, especially given his performance on Prince Charles yesterday.

I very much like Chaz as a poster. I really do. He's an intriguing individual. But I am quite fearful of British Tories. I genuinely believe they're a danger to the peace of the World, along with their American GOP counterparts.

No I wouldn't put an exclusion zone around Chaz. But I fear that without some checks and balances on the right wing of the Tory party we could be heading for serious trouble down the line. If Call me Dave finds it impossible to keep them reigned in over the next couple of years, there's no telling where it could all end up.

Since the comprehensive victory of the Tories in the GE I've been in a state of agitation. But I don't expect any sympathy from you Sooper. You've been one of their cheerleaders all along!

Have no idea how you lot have got here from starting at the Wembley bomb...but I assume Swords has just imploded

I found an unexploded bomb washed up on a beach in Wales. They loaded it onto a truck and took it away...No explosion or nothing...
    Wet squib to be honest.

Let's hope this is the same.
