Players are able to buy themselves out of a contract from a certain age but I believe Sterling is too young for that.

As I've said in post [HASHTAG]#134[/HASHTAG], I would rather we ****ed him off now.
No, nothing to do with buying out of contracts, I think there's a precedent around players being left to rot in the reserves and a restriction in trade. Could be wrong like.

It's moot anyway, as you'll blow the ****er out this summer <ok>

So far there is nothing to suggest he will start. All Rodgers has done is make sure the next 48 hours is not all about the confirmed fact he will not start.

Him being dropped would have been expected, logical and widely respected as the right call.

No wonder Brent didn't take it.........

So not only do you want £30m upfront, you want themt o pay QPR the £6m they'd be owed too? So effectively the buying club would be paying £36m...? Which effectively makes the 20% work out at £7.2m so who is paying the additional £1.2m...?

Yes I would want £37.5m up front. £7.5m would go to QPR.

I wouldn't. I think a lot of us have lost sight of his ability and potential after a poor few months, as well as the contract issue.

He is special - and is our best talent to come out of the academy since Gerrard. This kid was a part of a truly world class attack last season, and did not look out of place alongside Suarez. It's seem to have been forgotten but he practically carried our attack until December-ish was our best player.

And he's only 20. Compare him to other world class players at the same age, and his stats are mostly better.

£40-50m is definitely the minimum we should be looking for.

I can only go on my thoughts, as much as he has pace and good dribbling ability he lacks concentraction and it's a big flaw in his game. It is something that can be taught though so you may well be right in your thoughts that he will improve and therefore be worth more.

I don't think he's SWP but I also don't think he will improve that much and will always have poor decision making, average delivery and average finishing ability, we need someone who is more clinical and if we can get good money for this lad I'd go for it.

Forgot about the sell on though so maybe we should push for more to cover it.

Fair points but he is certainly not another SWP. First of all, he's not a winger. He can play across the line but is far better suited to playing centrally.

He has the intelligence to play in a number of positions, his movement is excellent, can beat a man, and is hard working.

Things like decision making, finishing etc all comes with experience - the lad is 20 and he will get better.

He'll be 22 at the end of his contract and on current form wouldn't have had much game time to improve <whistle>

Yep, another quality youngster.

Where has Bodanki gone? Apparently Sterling isn't one of the best young talents in the game but he can't provide me with a list of players who he does consider the best in that age range.
Because thats not what you said, you said nothing about age.
You said he was one of the best talents in world football. Which he isn't.

SWP had all those attributes as a youngster but his decision making was much better and had an end product including finishing too. Moving to Chelsea and sitting on the bench for an age ruined him.

SWP became a pro sixteen years ago when the league was much more physical and you rarely saw such a small player in central areas, he had little option but to play on the wing at the time. If he came through the ranks nowadays I have no doubt he'd be tried centrally just like Sterling has been.

I seriously don't think there is much difference between SWP and sterling at similar ages. SWP was 24 when he joined Chelsea and ruined his career. Whether or not Sterling is the next SWP depends on his next move.

He's deffo staying now sayeth Brendan <laugh>

Tug o war!!

Think thats just so clubs dont come in with lower silly offers

If we make out we really dont want rid that will hopefully push the price up

But who knows? Maybe in another couple of weeks he'll have signed a new contract with us! Cant see it though

Not sure if you read the whole post but I thought it was clear that I was referring to youth talents within his age range.

Of course, he's nowhere near Messi, Ronaldo or Hazard for that matter.
