Wouldnt do much for morale and although yes would cover costs, we'd get no transfer fee for him.

Rather take 20m now than have him in the squad for next 2 years.

Im 90% sure riders is saying it as a bluff. If he'd said well we aren't sure if he'll stay etc, clubs will come in with low bids and we'd be stuck in shot situation.

See post #134 <ok>

You can't make a player sit out years on his contract due to a dispute, I'm fairly sure there's a precedent for it.

<laugh> interesting that you understand procedures here but [HASHTAG]#bitterness[/HASHTAG] clouded your judgement when you saw a chance to attack Rodgers for not ruling Sterling out of selection <cheers>

You may well be right but the price tends to go up with English lads, I'd certainly go for £30 million though.

I wouldn't. I think a lot of us have lost sight of his ability and potential after a poor few months, as well as the contract issue.

He is special - and is our best talent to come out of the academy since Gerrard. This kid was a part of a truly world class attack last season, and did not look out of place alongside Suarez. It's seem to have been forgotten but he practically carried our attack until December-ish was our best player.

And he's only 20. Compare him to other world class players at the same age, and his stats are mostly better.

£40-50m is definitely the minimum we should be looking for.

Interesting that your red tinted specs didn't allow you to make the simple distinction between dropping a player for 1 game and kicking him into the stiffs for years on end.

Cancel his contract?

Just stop it love, you're making a complete cock out of yourself again.

All he had to say was something along the lines of "Given the events of this week, I think it'll be in the best interests of the player and the club if we take him out of the spotlight and he sits this one out"

You no nothing about the media. Announcing you want him out of the spotlight is putting him in the spotlight.

Players are able to buy themselves out of a contract from a certain age but I believe Sterling is too young for that.

As I've said in post #134, I would rather we ****ed him off now.

I wouldn't take £30m unless in was £30m immediate cash in hand i.e. no installments and they cover the 20% sell on

I think the £40m-£50m figures are a bit of a joke. I think we could expect about £30m for Sterling and that's taking his age, British based and HG qualification into account. If he wasn't any of those, he'd only be about £15m-£20m IMO

I assume you mean 'know'

...and of course if he starts on Sunday there won't be cameras trained on his every move and effects mic's stuffed in front of the Liverpool fans section to capture their boos.....and of course it won't make the back pages at all like.....

Nope - we need to play hardball. And he will have plenty of teams after him. We have leverage.

So not only do you want £30m upfront, you want themt o pay QPR the £6m they'd be owed too? So effectively the buying club would be paying £36m...? Which effectively makes the 20% work out at £7.2m so who is paying the additional £1.2m...?

So far there is nothing to suggest he will start. All Rodgers has done is make sure the next 48 hours is not all about the confirmed fact he will not start.

I honestly can't see him being involved in any way on Sunday.
