Not sure I follow you.

You equated us to the Arsenal of 2-3 years ago and I agreed, quibbling over wages, not paying for the top draw players (wages) and prioritising revenue streams etc in order to secure financial stability. And whilst doing this it cost Arsenal their best players and going a long stretch without winning things.

Not sure what Rodgers being in charge has to do with it. Surely that is the owners strategy? Americans owners seem to have a habit of accepting being/stay in the top division as a win in football, as it guarantees not to jeopardise the money side.

Think it was 8 years....Now it is a cup win and another final....

it is rather a bad wum effort PJ..

Calling us the new arsenal... in the long term i'd bloody take that. 60k stadium, wads of cash in the bank and a team starting to deliver.

its 2011 since league cup. if in next 4 years we got to the point arsenal are now... I'd bloody take that!

8th richest club in the world, yet wont pay the wages for the targets Rodgers wants?

The new Arsenal<ok>

This is about Sterling, Rodgers has a nice thread of his own.

On your point about wages, I agree with mito regarding the Arsenal comparison, but yeah our wage structure needs an MOT, Sterling being offered more than Couthinho got for his new contract for instance, if Sterling would have accepted you couldn't blame Couts wanting at least parity or a move.

so you are saying one guy is a greedy **** and one is a poor lad out of brazil with no clue and is getting exploited.

Nope, I'm saying one was happy to sign a new improved contract and the other is a greedy ****er.

Couts has stolen the headlines for us this season for all the right reasons but Sterling has brought shame and controversy in an end of season hatchet attack.

Both perform best as a No.10 too but there is no competition as to who wins the role and it's not the Londoner wanting £100k+

Raheem Sterling's agent has told the London Evening Standard that the winger won't sign for Liverpool for any amount.

The player's representative Aidy Ward has also spoken out against Liverpool and the club's former players who have criticised his client for turning down £100,000-a-week deal to stay at Anfield.

"I don't care about the PR of the club and the club situation. I don't care.

"He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing.

"My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter."

Coutinho is good in the role but he's better playing deeper.

So in short, Aidy is a prick?

So in short, Aidy is a prick?

Pretty much..

And he also appeared to blame the club for making news about the discussions public, saying: “How did this all occur? There is no smoke without fire.”

Ward said Sterling would not move to Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, and suggested Chelsea or Manchester City were the most likely destinations.

He added: “I am not worried. Worried is making a decision not knowing what is going to happen. Every premier league club will make a bid for him.”
