You made Suarez stay which financially worked out well for you. United made Rooney stay which, from a continuity basis, worked out ok for us. Either you get £40million for Sterling or you beat some sense into him.

There's not doubting he has talent, he showed that last year however... he was given the luxury of being the 3rd wheel in the front 3. By that I mean defences were so worries about Suarez/Sturridge that it left space for Sterling to exploit.

This year, he hasn't had that and I do feel sorry that he's been played out of position but there's no doubting he's been a shadow of the player he was. Not just in skill and confidence but like everyone has said in pure effort. Just doesn't seem like he cares anymore.

The fact he hasn't been able to do it without others helping out could be looked at 2 ways. Could say it shows he's not as good as claimed as other top quality players can do it on there own rather than relying on others to create space for them. Or, you could say that had we provided him with other quality attacking players to play with then we'd still be seeing the best of him.

No doubting that the contract saga has been ridiculous and I think that's what most people are upset about and don't care if he goes. He's shown a lack of respect to the club over it all and had he accepted 100k when first offered we'd all be right behind him and be saying "he's young, can improve, needs quality, been relied on too much etc" but unfortunately, he's been poorly advised and no one feels sorry for him anymore.

I think we'd all rather he stayed if he had accepted a new contract but now, happy to get rid.

Watching Gerrard speak to the crowd shows what playing for Liverpool is about... I know it's different as it's his local team and one he grew up with but even so, players should feel privileged to play for LFC and if someone doesn't want to play for us anymore, then get rid.

No man is bigger than LFC, not even Stevie G.

Suarez was world class and proven quality meat

We had this **** in 2005 with Gerrard and i say the same now as i did then. Anyone and i mean anyone who states they want to leave to win trophies is talking ****. If he goes to Arsenal we will know as they have only 1 or possibly 2 trophies in last 10 years. When you make that statement you are saying you are on your way out. We should open the door and kick him the feck out ( as we should have done with Gerrard IF he said the same).
No team is going to give Sterling a bigger opportunity than we are, cause tbf we need him.
This is also a bad call for our national squad as his development will be stunted in most other squads. Would happily trade for Wallcott or Ox (unfortunately i dont think either will happen) - i believe that both would flourish under Brendan.

The right move for him is to stay at Liverpool. Being offered £100k p/week at a club where he's almost a guaranteed started and saying no to it is unbelievable. His agent is a right c**k as well. If some club is dumb enough to offer £40m for him then i'll pay for his train ticket to where ever that club is!

Sterling can't compare to Rooney or Suarez, tbh Rooney took the piss when he asked for a move when it was money he was after, Suarez wanted to move to win trophies.

But Sterling's a wet behind the ears brat who's greed and false sense of exactly how good he is will be his downfall.

Few reports saying that further talks are expected this week re. his contract.

If the player has no intention of signing, why are there talks ..

I like many others have a family to look after so if the greedy **** wants out let him go, im passed caring. If he isnt happy with whats offered I hope our club **** him off.

With this latest tantrum (if true) he's done enough for me to not pull on our shirt, he's shown little effort this season. He had a holiday in January, honestly I cant be arsed to talk about him anymore. Let him leave and buy as much Fanta as he likes, but not with our money

Im more worried of losing

Yeah, it is a nice looking fence, be a shame to lose it.<whistle>

His agent needs shooting. I'm all up for a bit of Liverpool FC piss taking but Sterling needs to stay at the club for at least another season. Where does he think he deserves to be? Chelsea so he can play the Salah/Cuadrado role of **** substitute? Arsenal where he can be the new Oxlade-Chamberlain who is the new Walcott (neither start a game)? Or the new Tony Daley? He's a cracking player who's close to ****ing up his career.

He's Shawn Wright Philips that's all.

Finally If he is in the 18 to go to Stoke.... well lfc can close up cos we are not a big club if we let this chump mug is off a third time and not nail him

BBC interview, late night antics and now this outburst

Oh, you mean that old Ford Cortina thing next to the lovely fence?

Whatever rocks your boat DR.

What rocks my boat shouldnt be brodcasted here, too explicit. Usually im up the **** creek without a paddle

Sterlings surname suits his attitude, funny isnt it? I dont know how true but when someone was explaining to me that surnames fitted your trade back in the day, it made sense for my surname and does here as well

Citeh and Chelsea will certainly be keeping an eye on this one,Arsenal too maybe.

Citeh and Chelsea can afford a big fee plus big wages, and have others to sell re. FFP

Who's going to want him??? Can't believe he didn't sign 100k a week deal its pure crazyness

This is the part I don't get cos this agent must have something up his sleeve.

Chelsea.. no chance. They've 10 better than him

City? He meets the English quota but at best it's the bench. Navas, Nasri, silva

Arsenal? Maybe but ozil, Carzorla and Sanchez are all better.. again sub

Utd? <laugh>

I mean lets get real..... and real and barca are out too.

Must admit I admire Liverpool focusing on nurturing a core of young English talent. Don't want to generalise but so many of the young English players have an attitude problem and think they have made it after only showing signs of promise, Sterling being the prime example. 100k a week at a club that have not only coached him and trained him into what he is today but are also the highest level team he will realistically get first team football and he thinks this isn't good enough ? From what I've seen of him Jordan Ibe has just as much potential.
