I'm probably very late with this praise, but Jason Puncheon's free kick against Liverpool was a thing of beauty. I do miss him playing for us sometimes.

TSS, he was the outstanding player on the pitch, by a country mile. He had an excellent game and bossed the midfield. Interestingly, it was often from a central role. If yesterday is a benchmark of his form this season, then he has gone up a notch and should be getting a call up for England (once Roy finds him a big club).

We need LTL to have a word with his Dad.

    Brilliant!!!!

I read an article about Lovren written in the first 6 weeks of the season by Mark Lawrenson. Lawrenson may be a bumbling baffoon now but he was once a terrific defender. I recall this article because I printed it out and have it to my two Under 14 CBs

It basically said that Lovren was trying too hard and was coming to try and win every ball and kept getting caught in front of the attacker. This made it easier to beat him. The reason I gave it to the boys was because they were doing the same and being pulled out of position/shape. They listened and improved to have a great season, winning their league. They are 14.

The game yesterday (and this picture highlights it perfectly, thanks) showed that Lovren is still doing what he was doing at the start of the season. If we remember back to him at Saints, even when he was doing well, there was a tendency to be a little rash.

No wonder Brendan Rodgers has his head in his hands.

    School boy stuff.

As a pundit said yesterday, the beloved Fonte (he may not have said beloved:rolleyes:) is always in the right position. Perhaps he was directing Lovren and they covered for each other well and this made Lovren look very good. Should never have left us....tough titty, lad.

That seems fairly self evident now. I was as taken in as anyone else at the time.

    More quotes from that thread:

'I was better than Lovren and I was in my bedroom.'

'You could put a bloody traffic cone out there and it would have been better, at least it wouldn't fall over every 5 f*****g minutes.'

'I don't really want to stick the knife in but **** me, I honestly think I have better positional sense than Dejan Lovren.'

'Dejan Lovren wouldn't position himself correctly even with a compass.'

'He gets dragged to the ball so easily. And he's just so rash and aggressive. It's like watching a six-year-old play in defence for a rec league game. Genuinely funny. The man is absolutely crackers.'

'That moment in the first half when Lovren lost a tackle near the halfway line, he doesn't have a clue where he's meant to be.'

'If Dejan Lovren's marking was anything to go by, he'll probably lose his kid during the lap of honour.'

I know we don't like Poch but he deserves a lot of the credit for Lovren 2013-14. Equally Brendan deserves a lot of credit for this season's version.

So Mr Kompany, owner of many pairs of no doubt chic and expensive undergarments, would appear to have been caught with them around his ankles, and possibly someone else's ankles too. I wonder if this division may help Swansea today (and us next week)?

First things first...Swansea to lose, so 7th is guaranteed. Hope we get 5th or 6th, but if not pray for an Arsenal victory.

Hands up anyone who thought we would be one point behind Liverpool and Spurs with one game to go. Liar!!

I really hope we can get 5th/6th. Then I can relax and support Villa in the cup final.

As you say, a Swansea loss guarantees it. But a draw puts them three points behind, and their GD is inferior by 23 goals.

So we should be fine, as long as they don't win today.

Wouldn't it be great if Liverpool or Spurs were 7th and Villa won the cup #prayforit

Forget diving etc, I think the thing I probably I hate most in modern day football is how rank average professional footballers can make a living playing for the likes of City and Utd. Mangala being a prime example right there. It's just not fair or right.

Thank god for Hart behind him.
