I don't watch many academy games, but have been impressed with McCarthy every time. I would go as far as to say that we shouldn't waste money on another centre back. As soon as Jose retires he is our man. Think he should go out on loan next season and I doubt we will have a shortage of takers. Hesketh was lively, but another indifferent showing from Isgrove. I just don't see him making it for us
Agree Isgrove just doesnt look PL level. Mccarthy Turnbull could be a decent CB partnership in a couple of years.
I have to agree with the Lloyd point, nice Lad but just doesn't seem the player who would ever get a bench berth for Saints. If sell him on.
If swindon get promoted I'd like to see Turnball go back for least 1 more season, see how he fares against better teams.
I thought Turnbull looked a little rash last night. Big game I know, but I thought Stephens looked composed and showed good leadership skills whereas Turnbull was pulled all over the place.
I was impressed with Two Bob last evening, he put in a really good shift, took a couple of horrible tackles and reacted well, I would like to see more of him, I think he may have the makings of a good player.
How I felt about Turnbull for a while. He has improved at Swindon tho. So deserves a chance. Stephens is better at cm tho.
My mate is a Swindon fan and said he's played CM too and done very well. Stephens looks a natural leader doesn't he?
I have family who are ST holders at Swindon and they reckon that Stephens is the best loan signing they have ever had. He does look class. Agree with FLT ref Turnbull, not sure that he will make it to our first team.
My caveat is that this was the first game I have seen him properly in, so I don't want to write him off. Taking in to account the size of the game, the scoring, the atmospere and the comic book action, there is some mitigation there for him.
He is like it a lot. But seems to step up and play well a more then he use to as well. The biggest thing I have against him is he is slow on the turn. Stephens is a level above Turnbull, but I would stil give him a chance.
