Linked to some good quality players but I fear we end up with Benteke. Rodgers wanted Bony last season, and he was persistent with using 4-2-3-1 which is designed for a big target man.

It seems like we do all the ground work with the player and agent. It seems that the agent arranges meetimgs with other clubs on the back of the trip to Anfield/Melwood.

OR you fool can't see that the money paid elsewhere is 50% higher in many cases

If the simple fact is LFC want to pay 60k to 80k and the starting rate at arsenal never mind the others is 100k what would you do???

The reality is we need to go all out and get a top notch striker in Lacazette. We are paying Balotelli and Lambert 180K combined (i am not even counting Borini) so lets not cry poverty. We can afford these wages we just need to be a bit clever about the high income earners vs squad fillers.

The wages to be freed by Gerrard and Johnson are massive and that should be used to bring in star quality too. Remember after next season the new TV money kicks in as well as new stand will be ready and this means we can afford bigger wages.

Toure leaves but rather than sign another aging star we need to give Wisdom/Illori a chance. Illori has played against Messi,Zlatan and Ronaldo so I do not think he'd be fazed by the EPL and plus he is very rapid.

We need to be more cunning and not just buy players for the sake of it i.e. Luis Alberto,Aspas types. I'd rather send out the likes of Ojo and Sinclar on strategic loans in the championship and PL to gain experience then assimilate them into the first tema squad over time.

Common sense prevails! I agree - that experience of playing against top strikers is invaluable IMO. And it wasn't a case of turning up against them and getting hammered - the young lad defended incredibly well.

can't be too sensible lads though.. you'll miss the everton bashing if you are.

my view is you can play anyone you like behind quality players and they'll do a job but to get quality players you have to put the money in.

LFc have coutinho.. thats about it really. sterling i think is way over rated by himself and others. Ibe is just gaining experience

Arsenal have sanhzez, ozil and carzorla as thier no 1 line behind giroud and then wellback, sicknow walcott, ox and a couple others as reserves

Utd had mata and rooney and even wilson never mind falcao and rvp who let them down and lets not forget sideshow bob the hoofers dream.

We simple don't have the players to compete at a high level. we have very average players sucking up lots of wages and becoming millionaires with splinters in their back sides

we will see though... wisdom gain some experience but iloi has it all to prove in terms of fitness. he must deliver a full preseason IMO. anything less and the sick note worrys will return.

We won't get Lacazette. No point even reading the rumours.

He'll be going to Madrid, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Aubameyang is interesting. Would give us that frightening pace again. Someone for Sterling to break and pass to (what he's best at).

Have huge doubts we'll see Ilori, Wisdom, Alberto, Aspas etc play for us competitively again.

Should get decent fees for them but will probably only profit on Wisdom... makes you wonder who's signing these players.

Almost certainly cheslea. its rare actually a player isn't quietly linked to them and doesn't actually come out as a real link in the end.

Aubameyang might be the one but we will see... once the german cup final is over LFc have to snap him up or theres nothing in it.

The thing is Chelsea have Costa, Madrid still have CR as the main man. Sometimes we just have to try and not be negative he will go elsewhere because if that is the attitude the transfer committee have then we may as well give up. The selling point is in Liverpool he is sure to be the main man while at some of this clubs he will not.

I'd be happy with three players of his sort of quality. What we should've done last season fs.

I'm praying that FSG recognise the need to inject real quality this summer... Hopefully BR has learned from last summer too but I doubt it.

Liverpool terrify me in the transfer window

True he'd be the main guy here... but I think he'll want CL unfortunately.

Chelsea have shown previously they'll always strengthen their squad regardless of personnel and Benzema for some reason isn't secure at Madrid... Arsenal would be title challengers with another good striker.

I'd love the guy at Liverpool but we'll need to look elsewhere.

I do expect that this will be the case

better offers can be interpreted many ways:

    a) CL club
    b) mega club
    c) more wages

I am almost sure that he is going to join chelsea this year if anyone in england.

The point I would make is the main criticism for LFc should be if spurs can attract a player over us we waant to have a crisis meeting and there is zero fing way we should be beaten to a player by them ever.

its not CL guys... its moeny.

you lump 180k like we gave saurez down on a table people will snap it up.

the fact are we gave suarez that in January and sold him in july, you have to wonder if we always intended to sell him as we seem disinterested in paying more than 100k to anyone..

  17. I wouldn't say 'ever' as some players would be pulled by the London aspect. However, we certainly shouldn't be losing out to them every time as it currently seems.

Be a shame if Ilori and Wisdom are moved on. Yesterday showed how light on fit and good defensive fullbacks we are and Wisdom could save us some money in that area as cover for a first choice RB.
Ilori has potential and I feel we should persist with him. Alberto just doesn't fit with the English style, I reckon he'll end up in La Liga playing mid table.

Aspas can go **** himself, waste of time and money.

the london thing is a terrible reason to join a club.

oh here you don't need medals (not that you get them at anfield), you don't need wages but you can party yourself to death for 5 years and have a great time.... i don't find that a great attitude from a player.

You should be looking for most money and best chance to win a medal a year for the 5 years of your deal but you should also be looking at the long term aspect of your career as a whole. Join cheslea at 22 and not play for 5 years and you could end up as a villa or qpr player after it.

SPurs offer the same wages as us. thats the issue at hand. we've had the slightly bigger stadium for yonks much bigger revenues etc but still offer low wages relative to where we want to be. And yes you can go bust doing that but in the end. I'd rather 9 kids on eblow average hoping to improve and 3/4 real stars on 200k than a gut of average players all on highish but not competitive wages floating along all the time.

I agree on wisdom. At his age and wage level there is no good reason to let him go what so ever. Ilori has to prove himself over preseason but he might be able to do that.

but really they are going to be squad not top level first 11 but we need every red cent to get a top forward. if we don't we won't be top 10 next year.
