Double at Chester tomorrow pays 17/2 with CANNOCK CHASE (2.40) and HANS HOLBORN (3.10). No great science behind the selections Ryan Moore on board both in what seem relatively weak contests. That will do me.
Billy Slater @ 5/1 3:45 Chester In an ATR interview back in January with the good Dr Koukash he gave this horse as one to look out for at Chester in May. Good Luck
210- Tres Corona NAP Ran well and was beaten by a progreesive horse in Collabaration. Good E/W price last night so no harm done Ran 9th in the Lincoln on his come back for this season. he almost follows the exact same route as last year where he was 8th in the Lincoln and then 5th at Epson before winning her in this race last year by 5 lengths. Only reason I can think that he hasn't had the middle race is because they are protecting his mark and the rain helps his cause even more. 240 Cannock Chase I thought coming round the bend that Cannock was going to stay on and win well!!! Not to be but still a promising run but he needs to start producing something on the track that is in company with his reputation. This horse placed on his return @ Sandown and with the cobwebs being blown away he should be able to account for these as most are having preps for other targets. 310- Hans Holbein Seen as the best horse in the race and was. Kicked on the bend and seemed to quicken again when the others seemed to be a danger a furlong out I see this as being the best horse in the race and even though Valac has advertised the form like we had hoped, this horse is fit and better than anything else in the race. 345 Billy Slater Turning into a day of 2nd's!!! came late but didnt have enough time and went down by a length!! First start in a handicap and the last race has thrown up winners. Im taking a leap as Koukash did say this was one of his better ones for this meet and we will see tomorrow but 5/1 is a good E/W price. 420- Raj To Riches 3rd and no excuses, he ran well but just wasnt good enough Has finished 2nd in his 2 starts and of we look at his last run he seemed to idle when in front before going down to a decent horse. I then looked at the form and how it linked with RTR and Young John and with a line through Handytalk RTR comes out on top. The danger could be the newcomer for Dascombe but i will wait for the money to come before wanting to back that one. 455 Northgate Lad NB 2nd again!!! Broke well and just beaten by a horse that was good enough to turn the form around with him which is disappointing This is what Ellison had to say from a recent stable tour: He won first time out at Beverley but probably found the race coming to quick when returning there on Saturday - he's a nice horse and he should find more races as the season progresses." Cheek pieces on for the first time with a step in trip. I have a feeling this has been aimed at this for sometime 525- Modersernism Modernism was disappointing but the other Fahey horse Mica Mika does the bizz so not all bad. Moore booked for Fahey in the the Kokash colours in the last. Danger could be the other Fahey horse so the Fcast might be worth ago as well.
Attivo, it's an eerie coincidence that you should put up Billy Slater tonight. Assuming the horse is named for Bill, the old Wolves footballer (it may not be, and I never heard him called Billy), on the 'Bayern Semi' thread earlier today SwanHills was talking up the Brazilian winger Garrincha. I'm pretty sure I've got this right.....in the 1958 World Cup Brazil played England in the early stages, and their manager left out Garrincha because he was convinced that Slater was such a (euphemism) 'destructive player' that he would injure Garrincha badly enough to make him unavailable for the later rounds. I wouldn't disagree entirely with that - having seen BS play a few games for Wolves, my recollection is certainly that the ball might get past him, the man might get past him, but they wouldn't both get past him.
Evening boys and girls, Two at Chester for me... 2:20 - MASTER OF FINANCE 10/1 (was bleedin' 14/1 when I selected it but cut to 10/1 when I hit the 'Place bet' button - rogues!!) 5:25 - EMPRESS ALI 7/1 Backed purely on the basis that they are well drawn and have good form over C/D. Eway singles and eway double. Good luck all!!
Rainer You'll probably find he's a member of some boy-band. Apparently the Wolves side of that era were magic. You rarely see a good old-fashioned tackle these days, but I 'm sure football is dirtier and more cynical now than then.
With the Good Dr.'s love of Rugby League , own's Salford Red Devil's, and has ambitions of purchasing a team in the Australian National Rugby League(NRL) I guess the horse is named after the Australian Rugby League player of the same name? Makes a pleasant change from naming his horses after his son Gabrial & doughters, Lexi & Layla
Attivo: that sounds very plausible, and I'd certainly defer to practically anyone on Aussie RL questions ! Bustino: not sure about that, though I know what you mean. Because old-style full-blooded tackling has been effectively outlawed by legislators and referees, players have had to stoop to other and more sneaky/devious methods to stop talented opponents. But I don't think the game's 'dirtier' than it was in, say, the '70s: people like Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter and Chopper Harris actually set out to hurt people (we all fell about when they came on TV and told Brian Moore with a straight face that they would 'never set out to injure a fellow professional' - yeah, right). In fact, though Hunter and Billy Bremner are the folk-myth bad guys of Revie's Leeds, the most unpleasant of the lot - I always thought - was Johnny Giles. Sneaky, off-the-ball kicks, trips and elbows; and it was all such a pity because he was genuinely talented. I suspect that players' on-field behaviour simply mirrors their personalities - if you're a nasty piece of work, it'll show up one way or another.
By the time Epsom rolls around, we could find that all the Classic trial form is worthless because the ground at Chester is soft and it may well be on the soft side at York’s Dante meeting too. Aidan O’Brien has a terrific record in the Chester Vase and Hans Holbein being a son of Montjeu suggests that he should go on the ground. All he has to his name is a maiden race win so his place in the betting is surely down to the trainer and jockey. His principal market rival is Godolphin’s Future Empire, a son of New Approach, but the fact that he had a bad time in the Epsom Derby Trial behind Christophermarlowe makes me think he will not be going back there. Medrano has the only pattern race form in the race but I will overlook him and go with the well-regarded Storm The Stars and hope that the ground is not his undoing.
I know its not racing but I fancy a little play on BILLY HORSCHEL at 66/1 for the players championship in Golf. It is his home course and he's in good form. PP pay 6 places - I think it's worth a little dart.
I've just noticed The Good Dr K has Steve Prescott 4:55 Chester who is named after the sadly deceased rugby player. On the drift out from 12/1 to 28/1, I guess because of the Trap 10 draw and doubts on the ground, but he does have plenty of course experience 5 runs here as a 2-Y-O finishing 2nd twice, 28/1 about a Dr K runner in a Chester handicap has to be worth a small E/W punt even with Frank in the saddle! Good Luck
Hi guys can't remember who put up heading to first lto he's running again tonight 820 Wincanton Any updates on his chances would be great
Hello, all. Can confirm that, earlier on, I exercised my prerogative on this most auspicious of days. And I can confirm that I’ve exercised it most effectively as well. Five years of hurt (locally not nationally) ends tomorrow morning hopefully... Onto the gee-gees and I’d be surprised if CANNOCK CHASE (2.10) and FUTURE EMPIRE (3.10) didn’t both win ‘oooooooooooooooooooop’ at Chester. Good luck all.
Afternoon pilgrims.two shorties to win at chester both 9/4. 3.10-its normally against my rule to back any of the speckled one's runners but hans holbein is held in very high regard and should run a decent race. 4.55 northgate lad ran well at thirsk recently and runs from the good side of the stalls.
Cannock Chase should win this in a canter but for very small bet I have a sneaky about that rogue Windhoek - 10-1 with 365
