I agree, I just hope Brendan has got his eyes on some Carlos Kickaball who's had one decent season playing for some minnow in the uncompetitive Spanish League :bandit:

as in he's bench warmed a bit...

look my view is IF his legs are there for 2 years its worth it but if there is any sign they are not he's a liability.

He is all about work rate and LFc fans should know well thats call dirk kuyt style. when the legs go and the work rate tails off they are just not up to it.

Tobes should know he's watched barry all season <ok>

True Milner is only fairly decent cause he is a hard worker (see henderson who is the same type of player). They are technically okay (not great but not poor), they have lots of energy so can get up and down the field and overload areas with their energy. They track back and make you solid and they can create space by running past the strikers etc. If he starts losing his legs then he will become bang average and you will be paying a lot of money for someone who is merely a squad player.

He'll be a good free purchase no doubt. Not sure he is what you need in your team right now though, grafters are good and especially good in the big games where you can outwork the big teams. What i think you're team needs more right now is the right strikers with the right movements and creative/attacking players, the ones with the right pass and the right movement.

I think you're team already is a relatively hard working team which is why you normally see yourselves doing okay in the bigger matches (generally). What you are lacking at the moment is quality. You are generally not very creative bar Coutinho and sterling (first half of season, people would stand off him cause they feared him). You don't have the right movement up front and i don't know whether that is down to coaching or the lack of the correct players up top. Not sure Milner is the answer to your problems. (he loves to whip a ball in but realistically how often do you even have any guys in the area?)

    yes absolutely.

two really good strikers for coutinho to pass to... lallana and sterling are not top 4. not sure sterling will be. his head is down and he's not taking risks imo... but we need to see.

if we put a cheap player in cm it help gain the footing for coutinho to play in.

our players up top are basically trash. borini, lambert balotelli.... compared to how suarez worried teams in behind and is doing so for barca now.... ffs watching balotelli move out wide (and sturridge too) or deep and nobody at all running past him.... well id say its both coaching and players

At least Sterling proved last season that he can play alongside top players. Lallana is just crap.

And Milner is not cheap - he's already on £90k a week and he'll want £100k more. Will he come straight into the first team? I doubt it because he;s at the same level as Henderson and he's certainly not as good as Can. No doubt he'll ask for a nice signing on bonus. Look at the Joe Cole deal - this is exactly the same.

A lot of fans are saying that he brings experience - experience of what? Sitting on the bench, watching quality players win matches?

And that he's versatile - being able to play at a decent level in a number of positions isn't helpful. We need players who can play at a high level in 1-2 positions.

I understand he's a hard worker etc but it's not what we need - we need quality, we need leaders and we need to stop accepting mediocrity.

    good point on sterling.

i think in a midfield 3 Can, milner and henderson all play myself. Can deeper and the other two box to box.
I don't think milner can command a wage like that... even as a free he'll be about 100k which is johnson money as affordable IMO.

I don't think he's all that but we will see.

Can is wasted at DM IMO - I rather he was playing B2B.

If it was Milner or no-one, then of course, I'll take Milner. I do like him and think he can do a job, but we simply need better and there is better value out there.

In fact, we need a ban on buying players in the PL. Simple. There is no value in this market.

    we'll see...

I think he's shown at RCB he's got an organising attitude. I think he could do well there like an essien or matic.. are they wasted in the slot?

the point being as i said many times before i hate DM its got to be holding player not just destructive player Can can pass it.

100k per week is nothign special these days IMO. if we get him free on that wage I think he's more than worth it given it is a free

He does carry an aura, and authority, and it's evident that he's a leader.

Matic is a DM - that's his game and venturing forward is not his primary purpose. Can's first instinct is to drive forward and he has the power and pace to do so, which is why it would be a shame to shackle him in a DM role - but that's not to say he can't play the role however I do fear his attacking instincts will take over.

Understand that you prefer a holding mid - but first and foremost, we need a player who can protect the defence, and start attacks second. Mascherano is one of the world's best DM's in the history of the game - that sort of player is what we need.

matic does a nice job at it for a guy not going forward. he's at an age he can ramage around just like a keane was etc. they all have their time ramaging around then wear out a bit.

Can is young I say let him be the orngaiser and player back there cos he can also add going frward.

DM is only shackled if the defense sits off through fear and a keeper who is glued to his line.

Chelsea linked with Greizeman, Lacazette and Varane.

If they signed those 3 players, they'd walk the league in my opinion.

Guessing they'd get rid of a couple like Oscar, Remy to make way but they'd have one hell of a squad.

Remy is meant to be make weight in lacazette deal. Oscar would have to go to free up money for what I would presume would be at minimum a 60 to 70 Mil deal for greizemann

Varane is playing for real now . I don't see that one happening

    Can't see Varane leaving Real.

Griezemann is another player we could have got before he joined At Madrid but didn't.

So much talent out there - hopefully we land a few this summer.
