554 - Western Electric Products- Model 554 Telephone ... Known as the "554" series, it had the same network, dial, ringer and handset as the common 500 model.

.....and it doesn't need a feckin battery either. Everyones a winner..............

DD-557 USS Johnston. A Fletcher Class destroyer launched in 1943. Won five battle stars in a short but eventful and in the end tragic career. She and her two companions held at bay a whole Japanese fleet off Leyte Gulf before succumbing to vastly superior fire power. Her commander -who was lost in the action was awarded a postumous congressional medal of honour.
Her delaying actions saved the main bulk of the American invasion force in Leyte Gulf.

Can someone outline how to put a picture on a post for an old technophobe like me?

There was rather a good one of DD 557 that I would have liked to have shared with you all...

Happy to oblige

OK funkdaddy,

I found the ship on wiki. I then clicked on the picture and then clicked on it again. This then just shows the picture on the screen. Copy the URL (http:// etc) then go to the little icons above where you are typing and click on the one that says insert image

<doh> How do you do that Dev ??

Open a new tab. Find your picture Funky, right mouse click on it, select copy, go back to not606 tab, click on the icon, that is a picture of a tree (next to the little world icon), clear the http text, then right click on it, choose paste this time and, Hey Presto, your picture text will appear there and thus, your picture will appear when you reply. Phew!

Right, getting back on track: 561 inches is just over 14 metres, and we all know why that is significant!

The most recent tsunami in the world had waves 14 metres high. It disabled emergency power generators and heat removal pumps at Fukushima Daiichi on 11 March.
