True, although I hasten to add that Delph/Milner would be Everton's marquee summer signing

  3. Whereas normally they'd both be squad players for us. The fact is, we have no midfield beyond Henderson and Can so we need players. I actually rate Milner very highly and with him being free, it makes perfect sense to sign him so long as he's not expecting ridiculous wages.

My point is that we should buy better than our starting 11 (a team that crashed out of the CL, 5th place, lost to villa in cup etc etc). Does Milner really walk into our starting 11? Debatable.

  5. I think he does but maybe that says more about our current midfield than Milner <laugh>

I agree it says it all about our CMs

BTW its was bad cl, 5th in league two semi finals...... its a question of we recovered from bad bad start but its a question of confidence in going forward and performing for a full season.

Milner and henderson is the theory. it is IMO not top 4 but should have energy for a period of time. I can't see a team with that as box to box getting top 4.

  7. I'd say Milner, Henderson and Can is the theory. That offers plenty of energy, movement and fight but not much creativity. However, if we get a couple of strikers in, would we return to the diamond meaning Coutinho would be at the point?

Yes I would say that looks to be the case. You've said it to a tee.

depay and lacazette would be nice. we will see though. nobody is putting depay i nthe utd camp yet. Cheslea are rumoured for lacazette so.....

  9. Isn't Depay a winger? That would rule out the diamond unless Brod's going to re-create him <whistle>

he's a left winger/striker with 21 goals. He could be a sterling type playing wide of sturridge or he could be the next henry in terms not of quality par se but moving form win to striker. Many examples of wingers like that exist like messi or ronaldo at the very highest ends.

I don't know how he'd adapt to prem but his record suggests he can score goals which is the important thing

I would actually say suarez has taken the no 9 role at barca but he coudl play left side. villa was made play left side for them for messi...

I would not say with 21 goals he's going to be glued to the left wing like say ibe has been so far.

Manchester United could retain on-loan Monaco striker Radamel Falcao for a second season if goalkeeper David De Gea agrees to sign a new contract with the club, due to the players' agent.

    <laugh>

I said ages ago this was a done deal and only advertised as a "loan" for FFP reasons

Liverpool are the favourites to sign PSV Eindhoven's 21-year-old winger Memphis Depay for a fee of £22m.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw, 19, is at the centre of a club versus country row as England boss Roy Hodgson wants him to play against Slovenia on 7 June, but United manager Louis van Gaal wants him to rest.

<laugh> you don't play the fat **** anyway?

Everton could be priced out of a permanent move for on-loan Aaron Lennon, with Tottenham wanting £9m for the 28-year-old winger.

Newcastle have joined West Ham in competition for Real Sociedad manager David Moyes.

This sounds like the agent has bartered de gea's future to get a lob of cahs off falcao.

I cannot believe it is true cos falcao was gash this year and running around crying. surely he is not good enough for utd?

    #4633
  14. I fail to see why De Gea signing a new contract means Falcao will stay put

Our midfield is absolute garbage bar Can.

It's embarrassing that we still haven't replaced Alonso and Mascherano.

Signing Milner is not the answer - we need quality, not quantity. And we don;t need another squad player who wants £100k plus.

Milner is a good squad player but our squad is full of squad players. We don't need anymore.

By saying squad player he didn't have to, it was fully implied <laugh>

I hope that Rodgers turns his nose up at him as well, and that his desire to stay in the North West makes Goodison his default destination. As I'd love to see him at Everton, the lad is a quality professional and is massively underated in some quarters. His work rate is infectious.

  18. ****ing hell Tobes, one we agree on <laugh>

I'm not normally one for bosman signings as I think the vast majority are money grabbing ****s that don't put a shift in for the team, usually a reason their a free too. However, I like Milner and I think he is a exception to the rule. There is no way he'd sit around collecting a payslip, he's not that type of person. He will always put in 100%. He also has quality IMO but not as a winger as both Man City and England have wrongly used him as. He was fantastic in a midfield three at Villa before joining Man City and I think that's his best position but as a B2B type player. I think Can holding with Milner and Hendo either side and Coutinho in front would make fro a strong solid midfield full of energy, passion and desire too.

He's only 29 mate, and he's looked after himself. He's got another few years in him.
