maybe an apology for calling Rio a sponger wouldn't have gone amiss under the circumstances?

Under the circumstances, bringing up such matters now is extremely distasteful. Maybe we should leave it for a week or so eh?

I really don't think using hindsight to have a go at the original OP is in the best taste. Swords is right we should all just leave this for a few weeks and let Ferdinand and his family grieve in peace. Their loss over shadows everything else today.

I suggest you lock the thread Tramore, we will discuss Rio's role in the story of the season in full in a couple of weeks time anyway. Eamon wasn't to know what was going on when he started it, and none of the posters up to today were aware of what he was going through either. It's just a timing error.

That is spot on. Personally I have no problem with criticising the way someone has played, but we don't know these players as people, just an image that's all, so I never like the criticism of their character, not for taking huge wages for nothing either, because ninety something per cent of the population would do the same if their employers were so generous. But today is certainly not the day to do anything other than support Rio. All credit to his old Club fans in showing their support for him this afternoon.

It was obviously their decision to keep the illness quiet which is quite rare.....as normally you would hear that his wife had an illness at the bare minimum...Its no ones fault on this forum that they have said good or bad about Rio lately............
