It is just a rumour. He will cost a huge amount (which only United could afford under FFP) but will he be worth it should he be available ? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...td-prepare-100m-Gareth-Bale-transfer-bid.html Some think he is the proverbial game changer. In that in getting him, you are giving yourself a great chance of winning the league. So will you be prepared to swap de gea + £xx millions for him?
I would rather keep de gea. But as mentioned in another thread I think he is going to go. So getting Bale would be quite nice.
I too would like to keep De gea. But I have a feeling that it is not going to be such a disaster if he wanted to go and we got a good solid replacement. But someone like Bale is more of a game changer. Bale on his own would not be sufficient. On the attacking front we need another striker. RVP is coming to the end of his career, Falcao is not the answer. LVG doesn't want Hernandez or Wilson. Perhaps another gamble? Cavani? Whatever happens, we can be sure that United will again spend big this summer. They will need to.
I like the look of cavani. Not suggesting I've watched him loads but the few times I have he looked good. I've always liked bale. Do we think it will be the end of di Maria if we signed bale? I suspect it might be.
For the prices being quoted Bale can **** off. Depay Hummels Gundogan Clyne For about the same money we could get those players. Pay a little more for someone like Pogba and its a far more impressive window than just signing Bale would be. We would be a much better team too.
Now way to the Taff ,way to much at £100m, £50m tops. Gundogan is apparently a done deal (so the papers say)
I think bale would be an awesome signing regardless of the fee. The key point for me that it doesn't mean we sacrifice the areas of the team that need addressing. Which everyone agrees is more important. Though I firmly believe we will get bale and di Maria will be sold to finance it
I think we go for Bale and offer Di Maria back, they might go for that? Even if not, if we sign Bale I think it will be offset by selling Di Maria so half the cost is sorted. No reason why we can't then buy those other players aswell as Bale. Plus keep De Gea, everyone is a winner!
I think that's an undervaluation. ADM was sold for £60m. and I think Bale>ADM. I'd like to have both Bale and Di Maria with Rooney up front. The key as usual is to get an effective combination. It took LVG months to get a team going. I am hoping that whoever we get, Bale or no Bale, we move off the blocks at the start of the season.
Bale for £80m would represent better value than Disaster for £60m. Guaranteed matchwinner. Why does LVG need another big spend: does he not have the skill set to succeed with what he has ...
Spending does not guarantee success as City Chelsea (to a lesser extent) and United (to a surprising extent) have found out.
This depends on expectations and starting point. Of all fans we know this. We were winning titles when we were spending much less than Chelsea and City United was at a low ebb last season, had to spend big to arrest the slide and revamp the whole squad. the expectations (for me at least) was a CL place, never a title challenge. I cannot speak for others. So for me United have (almost) achieved the main objective this year if they do get 4th or better. Howver, I am saying we need to spend more because I think the quality of the squad/team is not at the level we aspire to and that's why we need to spend more. If not improve the first team, then to improve the depth of the squad. I haven't said this since SAF retired. Next season, we have to challenge for the title. End of. No excuses.
Can't see it happening from either sides perspective. I think Bale will have at least another season at Madrid.
For 100m **** that you're are bang on. Those 4 instead would be money much better spent. Mind you if you can recoup most of what you spent on Di Maria, real will take what they paid for bale, not 100m, stupid money, he isn't THAT good ffs, not when Ronaldo Suarez and every other top star went for less, just cos Real were stupid enough to pay that much for him doesn't mean anyone else should be stupid enough to go and top Real's fee paid to Spurs.
Real are ******ed, Sometimes I think they just like spending ridiculous sums so they can say "Hey, look what we spent....aren't we awesome!" Bale is a great player, but I have to agree with Sisu and MiR, those players would make your team much better than just Bale. Like when I said last summer that signing Hummels and Vidal would make you much better than signing Falcao and Di Maria
Depay, Hummels,Gundogan, Clyne, Ings and Vlaar both on frees>>>Bale Bale would be a decent January signing though
