Very valid points Bluesky and pretty astute too.
We think SQUIRE is better than his mark due to his performances on the gallops. The horses he works with are good yard sticks and point to him being a mid-eighties horse. Professor was second on Saturday off 101 and Squire works very well with him.
We cannot risk him on firm ground! There were three races in as many weeks that he could realistically run in. Haydock on Saturday was ruled out when the ground went firm on Thursday, annoyingly the weather turned it to good. Ascot on Wednesday is a 20 runner boys race with no guarantee of us getting in on bottom weight and that leaves Kempton. He hasn't run over a mile at Kempton since he ran second on only his second run for us when he was still a work in progress. Back there now over a mile should see him in a much better light. He is a Teofilio after all so the track should be ideal.
Its not always easy to find the right race but he certainly isn't looking for a quiet run. We rate him and want a couple more wins to get in some decent handicaps in a couple of months time. Galloping, testing tracks will suit him nicely. Sandown and Ascot spring to mind.
I would have loved to go to Ascot on Wednesday but when there is no guarantee of getting a run you have to go where you can. Also a twenty runner race with an apprentice on board may have been madness.
I hope you are pleasantly surprised tomorrow.
