It is amazing really as none of us were particularly enamoured when we signed him after his indifferent loan to Aston Villa last year.

Really disappointed for Fonte. Apparently being the most consistent centre back in the league just isn't good enough...

Our defence is good as a group...I suspect most players just voted for the obvious. Or perhaps everyone who had their shirt pulled by Fonte left him out

Find it baffling, that, despite the fact we have the best defence in the league, we're only represented by one player ... and that's an attack minded full-back (as deserved as it is, of course)

Suspect that because players base their decisions on the games they've played against other players they remember attackers far better than defenders.

So when choosing defenders they think 'well Chelsea are top of the league, they're a boring defensive team, they must have the best defenders. I'll vote for them.
