    Nicely written article by Neil.

Ramsey's situation to me is very clear. Stay up and he will be a hero and he will deservedly get the job full time.

Go down and he has to go. 6 home defeats on the trot is just not good enough. He has 5 games to make his claim for the job.

If he keeps us up, he's earned a full-time appointment. If we go down, I'd like to see him and Ferdinand given the chance to build a squad around the youngsters currently at the club, retaining three or four of the older heads. Keep him on either way.

That is one heck of a great read. Neil has written a very good article and I agree with his sentiments. Ramsey is a breath of fresh air after putting up with the debacle of the previous purloiner.

I think Ramsey has been doing a very good job, but haven't really seen a great need to make any decision on who our Manager will be for next season until this one is done with. He makes a good argument for appointing Ramsey now.

We could have unearthed a real gem with Ramsey. It looks like there is going to be very little money available next season with a big rebuilding job on the cards (again) the club is going to need a coach who will just get on with the job in hand and I believe Ramsey is that man. He seems to have the respect of the players and has shown a bit of tactical nous. Give him the full season no matter what happens this season.

A good read, and really puts a positive perspective on CR - think he would be a good choice irrespective of what league we are in next season

Some fair points but mainly this guy is talking crap and trying to put a positive spin on whatever he can.

Skirting over the negatives. SWP, then Furlong up against Sanchez, Bolasie and not stopping 2 crosses in a row that cost us at Hull.

Have these expiriments he praises worked for us or with 7 points out of a possible 30 do the failures clearly outweighed the positives at this stage of the season

He also skirts over the lack of experience in the transfer market and whether he can be relied on for a rebuild jon

Why does, this Neil Dejoythin take this approach. Well that surname and the line in his article, "Ramsey has the fire in his belly to succeed. Perhaps because of the colour of his skin, even though he has earned his stripes and done his time, this may be his only chance to put himself in the shop window"

Shows this guy's biased slant and also it's plain wrong and reverse casual racism by the article author.

Ramsey wasn't a big name in football. So no claim on the Roy Keane, paul Ince , good player and good captain so assumed good manager role.

There are literally hundreds of academy coaches so why Ramsey gets a leg up here I don't know.

Then he's done 6 months as Tim Sherwood's understudy. Not exactly a reason to walk into a prem job. Look aty the hard work Karanka, ex- Real Madrid star and Mourinho's under study now at Middlesbrough has had to do to earn a prem shot.

Ramsey has done okish considering the mess left by Redknapp. But considering the rebuilding job needed next year I don't think it's a gamble we can take despite this guy's on prejudiced view point

You're entitled to your point of view. I'm just saying it how I see it.

But, if you're going to quote me, you could at least afford me the courtesy of quoting accurately and not making up your own sentences, creating your own fantasy perspective and spin on it.

It's a shame that without any knowledge about my background that your drag my surname into this and make assumptions based on that too. You're well wide of the mark I'm afraid, I think you've embarrassed yourself with those remarks.

And thanks to everybody else for their comments, kind or otherwise, much appreciated.

Neil, I'm sorry but when you make the decision to write articles on websites for public consumption, you must be prepared for bad aswell as good reviews.

Thanks for the article and for coming on Neil. I agree with you regarding Peter Damage's comments on "reverse racism". Well out of order to accuse you of that. Thanks for pointing it out.

I quoted you once and that was completely correct so don't know what you're going on about there

I think you were bang out of order and completely unjustified to play the race card suggest his colour was a reason he will find it more difficult to get a chance.

I explained just why he can count himself lucky to get this opportunity considering his lack of status, real experience and just how many other white academy coaches with no status and minimal top level experience will rightly not get an opportunity.

Considering Ferdinand's recent comments making his feeling's about opportunities clear it is fair to say Ramsey's colour actually gave him a leg up to this premature promotion on the back of Les' recommendation

That's an educated guess but what's certain is his colour hasn't held him back so to chuck that out was wrong unfair and offensive.

You say yourself "Yes he's made mistakes (who hasn't) and at times pandered to the rhetoric when it comes to fielding youngsters. That's too be expected for someone who has never managed at this level"

You also say we won't see SWP again "unless there's an injury crisis".

So he has made mistakes and cost us points because of his inexperience. The suicidal selection against Palace was the best example of that and that performance was as bad and lacking in the passion you praise him for as any under Harry. And the doomed SWP experiment was a waste of time and points whichever way you spin it

The Arsenal game was also a disaster tactically. What was obvious in that game was our team needed more pace not less and Phillips was our main threat. Isla on the bench watching Furlong get roasted by his international team mate Sanchez was later brought on at right mid moving our one effective midfielder Phillips out of position to the left. Remember shouting as Sandro went off, the obvious thing against Arsenal miniature pacey attacking midfielders was Isla who has played there before.

His handling of Vargas has also been a huge error. You praise Ramsey in this article for playing players in the correct position's but how many times has he played in his. How many times has BZ become more and more ineffective as he gets tired but we persist in hoof ball. When a Chilean International Striker would have been quite handy. Or

So as I was reading the article about a manager with as many disasters as successes and was wondering why you were so biased, unbalanced and essentially writing a piece of propaganda. Then you played the race card and for me the article lost every ounce of credibility.

Based on games so far I would give him a 6/10. Far to early for an article like this. Let's judge it end of May

Read your excellent article Neil, I agree with much of it, and like your "slant" on the rest.
Peter we obviously cannot know "exactly" what is going on in the background... but with CR it all looks so much more transparent.

But I take exception to your above post Peter....
"Considering Ferdinand's recent comments making his feeling's about opportunities clear it is fair to say Ramsey's colour actually gave him a leg up to this premature promotion on the back of Les' recommendation"

Now that is just wrong, Chris took over as caretaker, because he was the only man standing after Arrys emergency knee resignation (yes I know Bond is still there, but that was never on).
If Clement or some high profile person who wasn't money grabbing Tim Sherwood had turned up we would have not seen him more than a game or two.

It was not because of his colour, or a recommendation of Les...he was the only person there.
The high profile people did not materialise, CR got some results, the team atmosphere and ethos got better....he stayed

Racism is a major major issue and I do not want to belittle it....but this (alleged) accusation of reverse racism is just wrong.

I do not care what race/colour CR is he is behaving like an intelligent, thinking, fair gentleman who has the best interests of my CLUB at heart.
He has 5 more guaranteed games, lets see what happens......at this moment in time....I would like to see him take us further, but I will think again in 5 matches when I know

If we are in the Prem or are down
If we went down scrapping for every point, or without a whimper
    We will see

    I think you've completely misunderstood.

    My quote is this:

"He understands that, perhaps because of the colour of his skin, even though he’s earned his stripes and done his time this may be his only chance to put himself in the shop window to fulfil his ambition and become a manager. Therefore, you can be sure he will give it everything he’s got."

You chose to remove some of the words when you re-quoted me, importantly the three at the start of the sentence: "He understands that,"

That's he, and means Chris Ramsey, not me.

The point I made was based on Ramsey's responses to questions he's been answering in almost every pre-match press conference since he was placed in charge. If you've watched any of them, then then my comments may have made more sense.

He clearly feels that at 52 years of age, having done all of his qualifications and badges, and having put years of service into the game, that he's earned the right and is good enough to be considered for a managerial role.

If he really feels he hasn't got a managerial job over here because of the colour of his skin, which is the point I made, then he is obviously going to see this as a huge opportunity for himself to showcase his skills. Where I theorised, is that potentially in his own mind, he might feel this is his only chance and therefore he's got to give it his best shot if that's the case. That's where "Therefore, you can be sure he will give it everything he's got" comes in, if that's what he really believes.

From a personal point of view – I have no idea if there is an issue with ethnic minorities within the game, regardless of what the statistics say. At no point have I played a race card or suggested the colour of his skin was a reason he will find it more difficult to get a chance. You are wrong and incorrect to assume otherwise.

I trust this clears it up for you.

It's a shame, because I'd love to talk and discuss football matters here all day with you, as you clearly have strong views and that's what communities like these are supposed to be about, but I don't respect the way you've put your points across, and because you chosen to interpret my comments that way it's probably not worth my time either.

    Never mind. All the best.

Neil you made a very big mistake in bringing race into it. You should have known that would be seized upon by somebody (with some justification).

Don't lose the head over it. Just learn and move on.

Beth the Caretaker manager bit wasn’t the issue. When he got made the caretaker manager did we really expect it would be more than 2/3 games max?

So take that part out of it because you’ve got that part completely wrong. But for rest of the reason is he the only choice? Obviously the answer is no so actually “that is just wrong” instead. Plenty of other managers to choose from in and out of work. Personally I would have gone for Warburton as he is out of a job in May anyway.

There is no doubt that Ferdinand had a major part in Ramsey’s appointment and undoubtedly endorsed it. Considering his lack of experience it cant be denied this was an unexpected appointment and hell of a gamble.

So as I said it is an educated guess but Les’ support for things like the Rooney Rule show in Ramsey’s instance he definitely hasn’t been penalised in getting a managers job because of the colour of his skin. Despite the article’s insulation that it would which I find to be reverse racism because it is made without foundation because as I pointed out CR wasn’t a stand out in any particular category to get a job.

If he does well here he might get another job because he did well here. Colour of his skin is irrelevant

Missing out he understand that in no one changes the content of the quote. By adding in the words “he understands that” you aren’t making it as you say ‘Ramsey and not you’. The reverse is actually true.

By saying “he understands that” you are in fact insinuating that Ramsey understands something that you know to be an indisputable fact. As in he understands that because of the colour of his skin he will only get one chance. If you said “he believes that” instead and supported it with quotes then you could claim this but by saying he “understands that” there is an inference that you agree with this assumption.

I don’t believe this is true and I certainly know it is not an absol;uite truth as you suggest

Compare it to John Carver at Newcastle. Is this the only chance he’ll get because of the colour of his skin?

You say in his article that Ramsey doesn’t make excuses butt are now saying he says because of the colour of his skin he believes this to be a genuine excuse for him only getting one shot. I am surprised to hear this because i have missed that and would be interested to read direct quotes about that from him.

Suggestions of his penalising him and making it harder for him simply is playing the race card.
