To echo a lot of sentiment, that would be the final nail for me. I suppose I should be grateful to Ashley for finally putting me out of my misery - appointing someone competent would only have made me suffer more of that horrible, sentimental affliction often referred to as "hope"....

The whole article is one person's opinion - may release my own saying that Carver is crap

You will burn in hell for such sacrilegious comments about St John. Get behind the great one as...

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon you

If I were Carver I'd honestly have the minerals to say 'no Mike... I'm on my way'.
It's beyond money for me and I wouldn't want my family put through hell when results continue to go tits up.
By walking away at the end of the season he retains some dignity as he clearly isn't up to the job.
I've wanted him to be a success but he really hasn't a clue.
When he uttered the words 'the only way you win is by winning' I shook my head in embarrassment.

This aside, I think Fatso is going with the cheapest option until January where he will put the club up for sale.

I suspect it's bollocks myself. The problem is, Ashley appointed/ allowed the appointment of a certain Joe Kinnear. Not once, but twice. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be true.

The team is sub standard. Anyone who thinks this is all solely down to Carver is a ****ing mad man (I assume there are none out therr spinning this bollocks). I just feel Carver's ineptitude has made a bad situation infinitely worse.

A lot of people won't agree and won't want to hear it, but I think it shows how decent a job Pardew did keeping us above water. I'm sure a top manager could squeeze out a little more again to assure mid table. Pardew probably would have ended up just below. Carver on the other hand is the white Terry Connor <laugh>

Nail on head.
He's the Frank Spencer of caretaking.
It's the perfect storm.
I'm glad Pardew is out but concede he is light years ahead of Carver.
Incidentally I note Adrian Durham from Talksport slapped a journo down in style to defend us.
The journo was on giving it the 'the Geordies hounded a good manager out in Pardew'... to which Durham said 'no mate, I just think they don't like their managers going around headbutting people'.
Hate Durham... but he had me pissing myself at that slam dunk.

The league results for the calendar year 2014:

Newcastle P W D L GD Pts
38 12 6 20 -27 42

Worst goal difference of any team in the league and the results actually got worse as time progressed. Thank god we actually went on a bizzare 6 game winning run to paper over the cracks during that time. Another year of Pardew (who needed the change as much as we did as he's not a bad manager but had lost a grip of things) and I'm not convinced we'd be better off. Just because there has been no adequate replacement does not make the predecessor better.

100% this.

Regarding the last line, I don't know what fatso's up to, but I think he is going to take this club down then sell it at a "loss" (though let's bear in mind the £520m annual profit of MASH offsets it easily enough), but still maintain some form of loan against the club. The cash in the bank, plus other profits, will be used to pay him back and reduce the debt, then I expect this god-awful, threadbare squad to be kept as is with Carver in charge to oversee relegation. No investment anywhere, one more season of Global Sports Direct advertising, then "fck you fcking geordie cnts" from big Mike. He's got a business beginning to thrive as far afield as New Zealand, America and most of Europe, his need for a ball-ache of a club has diminished to zero, but he's going out with a plop. We'll be sold at around £100m, with a debt of about £75m which Ashley will hold against advertising, shops and merchandising.

I don't blame Carver for the mess we are in. He is not by any means a Premier league standard manager but who in his right mind would turn down the job, if offered it. I think Pardew would have struggled with this squad and the absence through injuries and suspensions, loans etc in the 2nd half of this season as he did the previous season so he jumped ship when he saw the writing on the wall and got a better offer from Palace. Those who state we hounded Pardew out are talking rubbish - if we had he would have gone earlier when we were on our first really bad run (Feb 2014-Oct 2014) and the pressure was really on. He got a better offer and he took it.
Carver suits Ashley because he is a Yes man - I don't think though that having seen what has happened since January that he will contemplate keeping Carver on, as his business model requires someone who can get the most of out of a limited playing squad and I don't think that Carver is that person.
No way is Ashley going to let the club go down and then sell. It doesn't make business sense. We may go down next year but it will be through bad management on his part and not planned.
Any new owner would look at Ashley's loan to the club and how he has used that to leverage free advertising etc and analyse the cost benefit of continuing to do this. With current low interest rates they could probably borrow to pay off the loan and cover the interest payments from commercial advertising and still have some money left over. If it was me (and I am saving up as we speak) I would pay him off in full. Why let somebody who actually has no interest in the club anymore have leverage over it.

And while we are at it - what's wrong with the statement 'the only way you win is by winning' - its factually correct and stands up alongside 'I am a firm believer you have to score more goals than the opposition to win' as perfect interview fillers.

Howey is a fat media whore ****er. He would adore the 'Jobs for the boy's appointment for his disgusting friend.

Carver is a useless **** ****. He has no minerals, he is ****ing pond life.

I'm glad Pardew is gone as he was a malignant ****. Alot of us wanted him gone but no ****er wanted Carver. All this bollocks the media portrays about 'they wanted a local' is such bullshit I'm not even going to vent complete hatred at it.

Carver will not jump, he will have to be shoved out of the way by a herd of elephants.

He will never have the chance to manage a football club again based on his results to date, so once his tenure at NUFC ends (oh, please let it be soon ...) that's it for him. So he will not go willingly.

Of course, we all know he shouldn't even have had the chance to manage a football club in the first place; let him oversee putting the corner flags out, fine, but for goodness sake don't let him near anyone whose job it is to kick a football.

As for dignity, I'm not sure the words 'John Carver' and 'dignity' could ever appear in the same sentence <yikes>

I agree that Ashley will likely stick with Carver though. Just to annoy us even more.

On the plus side though, ACS be glad, be very glad that you are not Carver :emoticon-0100-smile

All the fans want is honesty from the club not the type of ****waffle carver spouts. Remember mate, this is the bloke who offered out the away end at Southampton cos they dare criticise the team.
My issue with Pards was his shocking conduct. It seems he taught Carver the dark arts too.

We're ****ed if that thug is given the job permanently.

I have no faith in his ability to manage a football team as has been proven by his time in charge thus far. Granted a lot of our players are injured/suspended but that just gives him a better pool of ****e to pick from. What gets my goat is that a good number of our squad could be decent given the right management.

I'm ****ing dreading the summer if I'm honest. We need new players which is obvious and it will most likely happen but I dread to think what short list is currently being drawn up. Who in their right mind is gonna want to come here? In the past we've been able to attract players based on one or more of the following:-

1. Wants to play for the manager
2. Wants to play for the club
3. We play attractive football
3. The club pay reasonable wages
4. The club has ambition

You could probably add a whole lot more to that but I think that covers the major ones. I don't think we can apply ANY of those to our current setup, nor could we have for a good number of years going back...probably until when SBR was in charge.

Quite why or how the likes of Cabaye and Debuchy came to the club is beyond me. They are quality players and were obviously told a bunch of porkies to get them to sign up.

I have a nasty feeling we're gonna get sucked into a relegation fight and it frightens the life out of me. Nothing is gonna change until the fat one departs his clearly pulling everybodys strings and tells everyone concerned with the club what to do, when to do it and what they can and cannot say...and to whom.

It's ****ing horseshit !

Indeed but many of us knew that is what we were going to get and wanted this situation even less than Pardew. Pardew given money and squad was capable at least.
