It would appear that he was typing it during the match but posted it after the match finished and didn't delete what wasn't relevant because he wanted to explain his logic regarding his preferred result on the night.
Here's the best reason for wanting Villa to remain in the relegation scrap.... They play Burnley in the last game of the season, at home. Chances are that they could still possibly be relegated, so need a win Vs Burnley. If they had got extra points by beating QPR, they might be out of it come the last game of the season and have nothing to play for against Burnley.
With the amount of extra money for each place higher in the league you finish, it could be said that every game counts. However in saying that and looking at how we finished last season maybe not.
A lot of the time the first thing I see on my phone is the avatar and I go on that who it is. But with you I have because you change so bloody much
Not in my opinion ( the more teams in the mix idea, not the impossible to predict point, which I certainly agree with). We need 3 teams to have fewer points than we do at the end of the season. The ones currently below us we want to pick up zero points. If any of those below us play each other, we want the team with the fewest points (or lowest position in the League) to lose every time, providing we don't end up in the bottom three as a result. That was the situation last night, plus it gave us a game in hand with far superior goal difference to both. IMO, comparing remaining fixtures for those 2 teams, QPR have the toughest. Better still should they have lost last night. They didn't, but it doesn't detract from my point. Which clearly I have not articulated well enough for you to understand. btw - if your going to respond on my behalf, which seems to be your wont, do me a favour and refer to my name rather than using "he". Amazing you don't see that a draw was relevant to making my case. Prior to, and post game. Guess you don't understand the logic, or the 7 & 9 goals hammering reference. If you do, it wasn't apparent in your reply to balkan tiger.
Surely you are not taking me seriously "Harry" - it was "a joke Ethel' (as we say in Oz. P.S. Prince Harry is currently over here doing a spell with the Oz Army.
Sometimes we will end up in the bottom three whatever the result. What would you - tigerscanada - do then? It's not a question of articulation. It's a question of whether I agree with your contention of imagining the league stops after games in hand are played. I don't even agree with looking at how hard games are. Obviously it is better to play a team that isn't near the top of the league but given relegation candidates may be able to pick up the odd draw - ie Burnley against Spurs - I think it's so difficult to judge what will happen when teams have 6, 7 or 8 matches to play. What's amazing? I did explain how you were making your case after the game but wanting to explain what your theory was before the game.
Surely any sane person would realise that if a game ends with only 2 points being given out instead of 3 between two sides below us, that that's generally a better outcome. Having sides below us keep losing is all well and good, but if that means one of the sides below us gains 3 points then that's hardly good. (Unless it's the final day and they're both one point behind us with superior goal difference)
No time to elaborate....just remember my post ( #191) and I'll explain at the end of the season, whatever the final positions are. Plenty of time for you to figure it out. Me knowing the result of the Villa vs QPR game is inconsequential.
Nope. I'm not pleased a team in a relegation slot gained 1 point, which happens to be one point closer to us and hence less difficult for them to overtake us and put us in a relegation slot..The objective is to get more points than the 3 teams who are currently in the relegation spots is it not ?
Peter, please see my response ( post #233 ) to SydneyTiger14, which is the short form of the answer to your question. You may disagree. Fair enough.
No. It doesn't matter who's in the relegation spots now as much it does at the end of the season. The more that have a good chance of being in the bottom three the better
But if one of those teams currently in a relegation spot gains no points from a game doesn't a team not currently in a relegation spot benefit ?
Are you not saying a general theory by using a specific table as your argument? If two teams below us play each other and one of those two teams are significantly lower than us, to a point where it is impossible or improbable that they will equal or overtake us, then I would rather them take all three points and prevent the shorter gap, of the more threatening team, from getting any shorter. There might be a risk in both scenarios (maybe not), but one is greater than the other. Mind you, it's always better to win your own points and maintain the gap.
Although if a team is so far behind us then it doesn't matter if they get a win I don't think we are in that scenario. Anybody can overtake us so spread the few points around!
