Im enjoying this close of season and think that Lambert has made some wise purchases in the transfer market so far, bringing in some top players from what is now the leagues below. The idea seems to be to bring in some players who are going to work hard for the team, stick around if we go down and not upset the balance of the training room with over inflated egos, as well as not blowing the money on wages and transfer fees. I understand that!!! BUT, im sure I cant be the only one wanting to also see one or two players which have played in the Premiership, have knowledge and experience to pass on to the other less experienced players. I know Vaughan has had some games and some other players have played some fringe matches, but I would really like us bring in someone who has really been there and done it, and can really draw on experience when it ends up in the inevitable dog fight towards the end of next season. Dont ask me who we could bring in, you might have some ideas of your own on that yourseves, but without this vital ingredient, Lambert seems to be settling for building a yo-yo team for the next few seasons, and that is far from guarenteed to succeed, as other premiership sides will cherry pick away our best players when there in the biggest shop window in the world. Any thoughts????
I don't really believe in this idea of 'Premiership experience.' There is football experience, and that's in whatever type of football, the difference being the Premier League is a higher standard of competition, but so long as the players we have are good ones (And they are) I'm happy.
Premier league experience is overrated. Our ethos when we got promoted into the champ was to get the best league one players. The likes of fox and crofts. It WORKED. I see no reason why lambert should change what he's doing. Bringing in the likes of a Hargreaves or an Owen or another overrated, overpaid "superstar" would upset the team ethos and create problems with team unity backstage I feel. Stick to the Lambo way, let's play our way.
Spot on Beefy! The way I look at it is, if these experienced players are available to us, it's because they aren't good enough for the more established Premier League teams, so why would they be good enough for us? We've got young, hungry players with a point to prove
Spot on IMO. The premier league is not some mythical place inhabited by superheros who are unbeatable. Come the first game of the season there will be 11 professional footballers in Norwich shirts and 11 in Wigan shirts. Football is football. Our team last season showed they were too good for the championship and so with a few improvements (And I think the signings made so far all improve the squad) the we should be fine. Why make the same mistakes as last time in paying players huge sums just because they have made a name for themselves simply for them to turn up here and take it easy for a year towards the end of their careers? There are many very average (in professional terms) players in the prem and there is a lot of talent outside it. The trick is to find the players that are the cream of the talent lower league-wise. They will be the ones with a point to prove and so may well give you that little bit extra.
If you guys have got any spare money i suggest you bet on Norwich to be relegated at 2/5, so far ive managed to get £200 on it with more to come!!
Come and critisise us and our philosophy when you can get into the premier league... Sorry about your lost money in advance
Our philosophy in winning games and getting promoted, what's the binners philosophy? Harking about the past and generally being **** and football in the present?
That's genius you should keep that philosophy to yourself, if you keep shouting about it others will surely follow. Your great philosophical views are enough to rival Plato and Hippocrates we are in awe....
