I wonder if any of you like me, now think he is surplus to our requirements? With Vaughan coming in on top of the rest of our midfield aquisitions...

UNLESS Bruce is fully expecting to get rid of excess m/f ers?

    Any opinions?

I think Steed will be away mate, he is only getting slower and he doesn't score goals. Shame because I love watching him.

I don't think we need him, but saying that if we have another injury explosion like last season, then we'll need the extra bodies in there. If steed goes then take him or look for a midfielder with a decent left foot to try and gain some balance in the squad.

Agree Col he is good to watch at times until he sees the 18 yard line then he turns into a lunatic with no feet, not sure what has happened to his shooting the last couple of seasons either.

If Steed knew where the net was he would be priceless.

He'd do a good job abroad too. Would rather see him in Belgium or France in the top division than our second tier.

It seems to me that Bruce is always concentrating on the spine of the team when signings are concerened. If we look at who has signed so far only Larsson can be seen as a wide man the rest all play predominatley in the middle of the park at CB, CM or CF and although the two Man Utd lads can play Full back (and id have no problem either of them doing it regularly) are in the main central defenders. The guy i really want to sign now is Niko Kranjcar reminds me of a young and quicker Steed Malbranque who would score a few goals and can play wide on either side.

Must be getting near our squad limit and I think we have other needs than MF. Left hand side still needs work!

This. I've been thinking exactly the same thing for a couple of weeks now. Steve Bruce has to offload one, maybe even two central midfielders. I just hope that he is not thinking of loaning out young Jack Colback, because at the end of last season he was outstanding and fully deserves his place in our first team squad.
