Okay, the donations thread is alive and kicking. I'll nudge it up if it drops. The clear choice for the first banner was Ash. If we're lucky enough to get enough for more than that one. Who is your next choice? As the polling option is limited, I'm going to just list the suggestions posted on the other thread. If people post the name of their choice, I'll (try to) count up as we go along. I'm assuming nobody minds their choice being public? I can't think of another simple way of doing this. Feel free to add your own choice if they're not listed. These are in the order they were posted on the other thread. I apologise now if I missed a name, feel free to add your choice. Raich Carter Vigo Jensen Jock Davidson Billy Bly Chillo Waggy Deano Rosey Elmo Andy Dawson Gareth Roberts Billy Whitehurst Nick Barmby Pete Skipper Stuart Elliot Tony Norman Gary Brabin, Warren Joyce, Les Mutrie, Keith Edwards, Richard Jobson, Brian Horton, Mally Lord Justin Whittle Boaz Myhill Ben Burgess Danny Allsopp Ken Houghton George Maddison
My vote would again go for Jock. I think it would be quite nice if we could alternate between old skool legends (more than 30 years) and recent ones (last 30 years) for each subsequent flag.
I agree. I've mentioned to someone else, we favour the ones we've seen, so it's weighted towards ones in a certain era. I'm open to suggestion on how we get around that. I'm not sure it's in the spirit of the vote, but one thought is for a group to have their own collection and pay specifically for one flag. My fear is it becomes a flag supply job, rather than the spontaneous, united gesture of support that inspired this.
Waggy & chillo would be nice! Especially as they're not getting any younger, they'd be well pleased to see a tribute from the fans! I never got to see them play, but I'm sure a lot on here may have?
With that many options you might have the votes spread around to much. I'd go with waggy, chillo or Joyce in no particular order if I am allowed to vote for more than one. That would be just for the first banner. My vote for the 2nd banner if we have that much money in the end would be Dawson.
Its the best way to do something, just do it and then ask latter if it was ok. I noticed in your quote that predictive text destroyed my votes so I had to edit them.
Not a bad idea. I'll let it run for now to let people get a fair shout, especially with it being a holiday weekend.
How about -- under posterised b&w pics of Butler, Wagstaff, Chilton & Houghton: HULL CITY'S 1966 HEROES
I've said it before but why only individuals? City of Culture and Pride of Yorkshire should be options too. Surely Waggy and Chilton could be together for example? There should also be consideration of previous suggestions and the opportunity to propose more. When was it decided that it'd just be individual players?
On the other thread. It was suggested that flags we could carry in to the ground were a solution to the issues around hanging them in the stadium and gave us other options, such as away games. Those that replied mainly agreed, so for pragmatic reasons, I took that as a concensus. The size lent itself to the images mauled posted on that thread. A double image is possible, but the image isn't as visible. If there's a desire for something else, I reckon mauled could oblige. I think it could reduce the impact of the flags on seats the club are providing, but that's just my view.
yea 6ft by 4ft flags in this set. or perhaps not in feet as you "foreigners" use some other monjo jombo but it was 6 something 4 something.
Nick Barmby had a huge impact on our rise through the leagues. It would be a fitting tribute from the fans after the way he was treated by the club.
About the size of a double bed. I reckon 'loads' is optimistic, unless you mean the thousands on the seats the club are providing? If you've a suggestion for a spot for another large flag that's currently available shout out.
