The news that ben arfa could be fit by the middle to end of febuary got me thinking...... We know that big Andy has come out and said he doesn't like to play up front on his own, we also know that nolan doesn't have the pace or agility to get onto his flick ons. Therefore i think we should try out a 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 formation. When going forward: ------------- Harper Simpson--Taylor--Colo--Enrique ----Barton---Tiote---Nolan -ben arfa----Carroll----Jonas When defending: ------------- Harper Simpson--Taylor--Colo--Enrique Arfa-Barton-Tiote-Nolan-Jonas --------------Carroll Jonas and ben arfa both have the ability when going forward so could get up with and even beyond carroll providing great support and energy. The midfield trio have a great mixture of passing creativity and shooting and in my opinion could dictate the game on their own. Jonas works tirelessly so would get back and Arfa could either drop into midfield and help or stop with carroll and help press the opposition waiting for his chance, and barton could move over to right mid. Just thought i'd ask your opinions on teams and formations
I like that! However i could see, once the attack has broken down, us just hoofing the ball up to Carroll too often rather than playing our way out with our excellent wide players!
That looks brilliant , imagine the havoc Carroll , Jonas and Ben Arfa will cause to Premier League defenses! Ah , one can dream can't he?

I actually like the look of that if I'm honest and I'm generally a 4-4-2 man myself, but you would have to take Saylor out from the defence and hes looked shocking this season, and its clearly obvious to anyone that Williamson and Colo have a far better understanding of eachothers game. Taylor sticks out like a sore thumb and makes the mediocre Simpson look even more so.
I like the 4,5,1. I think it's important to keep Jonas and Jose as close together as possible! Barton should be in the right of the centre 3 so he can drift out wide if he wants to. In fact, Nolan and Barton should have a fairly free role, with Tiote basically running a horizontal line just in front of the back 4. I used to play that role for uni, job was to break up attacks and lay off the simple pass, just stay really disciplined when it came to position.

Geordie_Boot_Boy : Thinking about the Taylor or williamson choice, and actually it seems to me that colos recent run of great form has coincided with williamsons return to the team, so your probably right on that one!!

I really like the look of that 4-3-3, pacey wingers and the target man in the centre. Play Tiote CDM with Nolan and Barton in CM, that is what i would go for.
