Anyone any experience or knowledge of these?

I have a tom tom sat nav, and the battery life is piss poor. Generally it's not an issue because it's plugged in, but I just made a long journey in a hire vehicle and the plug in socket didn't work. I had to save the tom tom for emergency use only, which was a pain in the arse.

I'm thinking of getting a back up power pack, but the choice and reviews seem varied to say the least.
 
Use a smart phone with google maps on it.

Far more accurate, and better rerouting too.

Haven't used my TomTom for around 2 years now.

Course, the battery needs to be fully charged, and if you're on a 4 hour plus trip you might need a charge...But yeah, don't use a sat nav!
 
I had a map, but I find sat nav easier. I also had a smart phone, but it had the same problem as the sat nav on a 12hr journey, hence the battery pack question.

I use an Orzly back up power pack for my iPhone which seems to have a battery life of between 10 and 12 minutes. Connects via USB and lightning cable so you may need a different lead. Pack give 4 full battery charges between plug ins.

I use an Intempo power bank for my ipad and iphone and it works great, you charge it from mains and then through a usb output into the phone or other device - works a treat and charges up as quick as directly from the mains

edit - sorry meant to say it is also very compact too about 1x1x4 inches
 
Kinell Imps, that would end up in a cracked screen and I'd cut me finger on the blade if I tried that.
 
My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 takes 100 minutes to fully charge and last's about 20 hours.

It's not as cool as Iphone, but you know...
