1-0 up, early Rooney goal - he's also hit the woodwork twice. Robert Green on the bench. please log in to view this image I wonder if Lithuania reminds Col of anyone? please log in to view this image
Lithuania would struggle in the Conference, we should be filling our boots tonight. Perhaps Harry Kane should have a go in the 2nd half, play the man in form...

Danny Welbeck does well with a surging run down the right, his shot is straight at Giedrius Arlauskis who parries it out and Rooney is there to head home from six yards. Sir Bobby Charlton has 49, Gary Lineker 48.
The Harry kane love fest has started. ..according to the commentator he is only 48 goals behind sir Bobby Charlton record. ....ffs you couldn't make it up.
Football writer Norman Giller on Twitter:"Bill Nicholson, legendary Spurs manager, scored with his first touch for England in 19 seconds ... and never won another cap."
Agreed Col but Lithuania were a poor side. ...If they play like that against Italy next week then maybe they can be considered a good side. ...
Of course mate. Baby steps. Wellbeck and sterling are both out for the Italy game so I expect we may change the formation with possibly Rooney behind kane. There will be good and bad results along the way, but I genuinely believe that England have the makings of a very good young team.
When do you expect us to be able to get to the semi finals of a major tournament Col? I think we are looking stronger up front, but very vulnerable at the back against class opposition.
I have high hopes for the next European championships. I agree that the defence is a concern, but unlike many, I think Jones and Cahil could become a strong partnership and we need to get Shaw fit and playing regularly as Baines is very average at international level imo. It's the attacking side of our game that really excites me. England can become a very effective counter attacking team with the pace and ability they have going forward.
